I love this
My brother and I laughed so hard this morning when we saw Cerrone was “proud” of Pelfrey. Who uses that wording? What the hell?
but why did francesa take offense to it
like we all know cerrone has some issues with wording but wtf was francesa’s problem.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
because he thinks
he’s the only legit mouthpiece of the fans maybe? or he’s the only legit authority on all things new york sports?
who knows what goes on in that man’s fat head.
Francessa is dumb as hell for knocking blogs
He shouldn’t have responded if he wanted to show how little blogs matter.
It still cracks me up that Cerrone said he is proud of Pelfrey
I mean I can understand the wording
it’s definitely awkward but I can understand why he would use it. He probably has a decent amount of access to the team and has interviewed Pelfrey during his struggles, or at least had a closer view of how it affected him than most fans do, and he’s happy to see him turning it around in a big way.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
I don't care what Cerrone does one way or the other
I check because the damn site has some type of hold on me. But whether he knows Pelfrey or not, using the word “proud” just doesn’t fit given his relationship with him. Just such a weird thing to say.
He may have been trying to capture the unique feeling of a fanbase
toward homegrown boys, watching them come up and impress, or not, working through their struggles to become legitimate big league players.
I don’t have a problem with the word “proud”. It’s a nice sentiment on the whole.
Yeah
It is very usual at least in the UK to use the word proud in relation to members of the team you support. Though we tend to also say “we” in reference to the team instead of “they”.
yeah I don't really see how using proud is that big of a deal
I agree it’s a bit awkward but I don’t really think it’s that out of the ordinary. It seems like something you might expect a fan to say about a player that came up through the teams system.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
It's something that might be said casually
but not in a post under the headline “Opinion: Iām Proud of Mike Pelfrey.” It seemed like an excuse to tell people how he had a conversation with Glavine and how he was able to take a physiological profile of Pelf over the offseason.
Haha yeah
I thought the same thing on Glavine.
I did an MS Paint of Francesa and Cerrone sitting on chairs waaay back
Unfortunately, however, it got erased
Lets Go Mets Go
Any chance you can get it back up? I gotta see this.

Holy sh*t!
I actually found it!

More hilarious, still, is the fact that Fatcessa looks uncomfortable…

Great news Matt, if nothing else that may get additional WFAN listeners to your site.
I’m not sure that bringing Francesa’s listeners to your website is “[g]reat news” by any meaning of those words with which I am familiar.

Oh, wait.
I forgot about the wacky approval policy for new commenters. Maybe it works out nicely then — get the hits without having to deal with Francesa’s mongos actually being involved in the site.

question:
who reads blogs anyway?
answer: everyone.
This is true
I shouldn’t be so harsh on Cerrone. There’s no better way to get on my good side than by getting in a fight with Francesa.

I find Cerrone a bit much
but heck, I’d take him over Francessa any day, and over many MSM commentators.
Cerrone is just boring and hard to read.
Fatcessa is just shit.

In fairness to Cerrone
If a guy with a fairly substantial audience took a cheap shot at you, you’d probably respond. Yeah, it’s taking the bait, but how many of us would just ignore it?
I like MetsBlog for the news
and Matt’s commentary isn’t always bad, the commenter’s are pretty awful though. The type of people that would call and/or listen to fatass all day.
Had him on in the car for 5 minutes yesterday (it was only a 5 min trip, so figured why not?) and he was ripping Dickey and Taka, and it pissed me off so I need to vent about it somewhere. He was saying Dickey is a career minor leaguer who is going to be released before Beltran gets back. Some caller in Minnesota said he would be done after 5 more starts. Yeah, he has been in the minors a lot before he decided the knuckler was the pitch he would focus on, and that understandably takes a few seasons to learn/master. Fangraphs says that started in 2005, but he said that was more of a forkball and that he didn’t start using and trusting the knuckler until this season, when he has had a 2.33 ERA in the minors and 1.5 in the majors. If you look at speeds, Dickey was doing something different in the majors before 2008 and has been working towards his current knuckler since. The same stats are not available for Wakefield before 2002, but from what I read it took him awhile to control and be able to use the knuckler as much as he does. You can’t adjust or prepare for a knuckler and once a pitcher learns/masters the pitch they often stay around bouncing between starting and relieving. It has been that way since Hoyt Wilhelm. Further, if the defense plays well and efficient behind the knuckler, there is no reason to not expect continued success as the knuckleball doesn’t get hit hard. I don’t pretend to expect this much success, but he will be successful enough to stay on this club.
sorry this was so long and unnecessary
fatboy just pisses me off. He probably wouldn’t even let someone talk if they mentioned Metsblog
dont blame you

Francesa is a child
I’m not a huge fan of Cerrone’s writing, but saying he looks like a 12 year old who needs a bath? Give me a break, Mike, that’s probably the most unprofessional thing you could possibly say. Ironically, it’s the kind of insult a 12 year old would probably hurl at someone. And it was completely unprovoked. I really saw nothing wrong with the post other than his poor writing skills, at least nothing that would evoke a reaction like that.
I’ve hated Francesa for years. He’s such an arrogant prick who knows next to nothing about the Mets, and is such an obvious Yankee fellater. He’s nothing more than a shock jock who pisses people off to get more calls. Stop giving him attention and he’ll die slowly on the air to open up the primetime spot for Steve Somers.
I'd rather deal with Cerrone
than Francesa’s insufferable ass.
There may be sunny days ahead.

Check out Mike Silva's view
Gas prices today are a lot like a pitcher's ERA. Anything under 3 is amazing, under 4 is pretty good and anything 5 and up is something you want to avoid.
Typical Silva self-promotion

He says that Francesa performed the "single most unprofessional act"
And he says that it was uncalled for and he thinks Francesa did it because Francesa is scared that Cerrone is becoming more successful. He is scared that “new media” is taking over and blogs will make talk show radio obsolete so now Francesa is trying to make people stop reading Cerrone’s blog.

So, how exactly did Francessa diss Cerrone?
What exactly did he say?

Huh. Cerrone deleted the post.
It was something about how Cerrone looks like a 12-year-old who needs a bath, who cares what he thinks and no one reads blogs anyway.

What the hell?
So, basically, this sums up the situation:
Matt Cerrone makes a post in which he says he is proud of Mike Pelfrey.
Mike Francessa, in response to that, says that Matt Cerrone looks like a 12-year-old who needs a bath, and that no one reads Metsblog.
Am I getting this right?

Not that it matters
but…from what I can gather…Matt stated in his post that Francesa stated “Who cares what Matthew Cerrone thinks?” This wasn’t the complete quote as Francesa actually stated something along the lines of “Cerrone is proud of Pelfrey, I’m sure Pelfrey cares, who cares what Matthew Cerrone thinks? He looks like a 12 year old blah blah blah” Francesa’s still a dick but I found it odd that Cerrone omited that beginning in his no deleted post.
I am only right once?
Well, if I had to take a guess my winning % is hiring than some of the ideas bandied elsewhere.
Of course, I have to be careful about having an opinion because if you are against the “ideology” you don’t get invited to the high school party!
Love have defending Cerrone is self promotion. Still need you guys to get me the official internet site rulebook. Been waiting for that!
Enjoy the discourse as always :)
whoa, someone linked to you and supported you
and you come on here and respond like a total d-bag. Way to go, Mike. That’s the way to get additional readers for your blog.
