Other than Santana and recently Pelf are pitchers don't go deep into gms
quality starts are hard to come by. With that many apperances so early in the season you know soon than later that the pen will break down.
and obsesses over match ups
he pulls relievers after one inning, or one batter, way to often.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
agreed
When you have a reliever that is having success in the game, the best thing to do is leave him in till he shows you he is tiring. Jerry prefers to switch pitchers till he finds one who doesn’t have it.
I read somewhere last week
Jerry’s defense of his bullpen use. He pays attention to the number of pitches, see, not the number of appearances. If a guy only throws a few pitches, he’s hardly been used at all, so these numbers mean nothing, really. Nothing.
That would be WAY smarter
if not for the fact he’s having them warm up nearly every damn day. That’s the real problem.

Also we'e got 5 relievers in the top 20 of pitches per innings in the NL
2 in the top 10. The Reds have 3, 1 in the top ten 1 at 11 and 1 at 19 and the cubs have 2. And considering we’re second in the NL in relief innings, neither the cubs or the reds are in the top ten, our pitchers are still by far throwing way more pitches than other teams. (for some reason I can’t find the total team pitches thrown stat anywhere)
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
I'm kind of surprised we are leading by more
especially considering we’ve played way more extra innings than anyone else.

Hisanori Takahashi
Informative graphic. This could explain his arm falling off against the Padres last night. I’m not a pitching coach but to immediately emerged from a taxed bullpen to starter, the result is not surprising.
Now I fear Jerry’s future plans on Meija
Gotta love Jerryball
Nothing quite as fun to watch as a guy that both micromanages and does it poorly at the same time
Reyes, Thole, Wright, Beltran, Bay, Davis, Martinez, Tejada...

Who's surprised that the Dodgers, with Joe Torre, are in second? I'm not.

Gil Hodges IS a Hall of Famer.

Wow, even Ubaldo Jimenez couldn't keep the Rockies fifth place
But I don’t understand how Marmol can have 49 save opportunities when he hasn’t played 49 games yet.
Gas prices today are a lot like a pitcher's ERA. Anything under 3 is amazing, under 4 is pretty good and anything 5 and up is something you want to avoid.
oh wow we have played 49 games
season goes by too fast
