Mets game 1: Reyes ss. Pagan cf. Bay lf. Davis 1b. Wright 3b. Francoeur rf. Cora 2b. Blanco c. Santana p— Kevin Burkhardt (@kevinburkhardt) June 10, 2010
Cora in the lineup again. This is really getting absurd. First of all, unless Tejada has an injury we don't know about, is there any reason a 20-year-old can't start both ends of a doubleheader? Second, Cora just started a few days ago. It's not as if he's sitting around doing nothing. If anyone could use some playing time, it's Tatis - not to mention the fact that he's actually above replacement-level. The Cora situation is rapidly approaching early-season-GMJ-levels of absurdity. At this point, given his "clubhouse presence" and given that the Mets' clubhouse is, by all accounts, a good place right now, they probably don't want to mess with a good thing and DFA him along with FCat/Jake/GMJ, but the least they could do is not put his "bat" in the lineup every other day.
