I think the fans on this site are like college-age stoners...
If as much energy was put into solving the world’s problems as doing things on this site—or in the case of the stoners thinking of new, creative ways to smoke pot—then the world would be a much better place. Still, the fact that a pug (Mrs. Mookie’s favorite thing) was combined with the 1986 Mets (my favorite thing) gave me a wonderful family moment.

Rec Rec Rec
When asked Thursday if he had entered the World Cup pool, Carter said: "No. I need to hit more home runs."
To be fair, when im not here I'm doing research
but when my brain goes into meltdown (as it so often does), I know where I can go for a distraction, dogs, bad MS paint, norse mythology, video games, physics lessons, poetry, mansions, condos, and occasionally conversation about the Mets. And yes the ’86 pug picture is pretty amazing.

Beltran is clearly about the got damn most beautiful player in the world. and playing in this huge ass backyard is the perfect comparison for the mets outfield.

I see your logic

I wouldn’t do that to my little man. He’s getting old anyway, he doesn’t need to be traumatized liked that.
lol we had a bernese mountain dog
and since they’re really hairy we used to get him shaved in the summer. The last time we got him shaved they accidental gave him a lions cut.
Imagine a 110 pound bernese mountain dog with that cut. The poor thing refused to go outside, and I’m so serious, for the first 1.5 days.

yeah all in all, not the funniest movie ever
but that one set of scenes at the end makes it worth it.

Ike Davis Dog
I’m loving all of these pics, but I think that isles732 deserves credit for the original, too!!! He’s the one who posted the original photo! Maybe co-credit for isles and mookie?
certainly.

Agree with that.
It was a team effort. And I believe he made the “Ike Davis Dog is Pleased” thing too.

Thanks Mookie!
Ike Davis Dog is definitely pleased with team efforts.
When asked Thursday if he had entered the World Cup pool, Carter said: "No. I need to hit more home runs."

Lemme just say this in an original post and not a reply.
Isles732 deserves to be up there with me on the Ike Davis dog thing.
Yes...
Was totally going to edit that but I apparently cannot edit the post. When I go to edit it, I’m getting a little page from SB Nation saying that there’s a problem and that they are currently trying to fix it (must be something really bad because they’ve been working on it for like 3 days!).
So yeah, once this issue gets ironed out, I’ll make the change.

Good.
I had so much fun that night with me throwing out fairly dumb ideas and I732 turning them into well-done graphics that I hope you do this.

Thats so awesome
thanks Mookie—I don’t mind though—as long as Ike Davis Dog is freed to the world I’ll gladly be anonymous.
By the way, how many non-AA posters would go out of they’re way to be nice like this—thanks man

Here's how you can pay me back...
My birthday is Sept. 21. The Mets are playing @ the Marlins on Sept 21, and I live in the Keys and can get to Miami. I know of a graphic shop down here that will turn the Ike Davis Dog into a large poster that will somehow mention Ike Davis Dog and SNY/GK&R. If you DVR this game I will do whatever it takes t on get in TV, to our mutual edification. It only took me promising the wife a night on south beach to get this done. But done it is.

Coolest thing ever
!!!!
WOW! I’ll definitely tape it oh my God oh my God. I’ll actually be in Ireland then—I’m studying abroad there for the term but I’ll definitely be able tape it. I have a friend who used to work for SNY—I wonder if I could call in a favor. Wow wow wow
When asked Thursday if he had entered the World Cup pool, Carter said: "No. I need to hit more home runs."
Yes, call in the favor. This is a perfect "fanpiece"
I can make it worth their while. Puppies = ratings and everyone in broadcasting knows this.

I think every AA'er will DVR this too

Thanks for your enthusiasm...
Here’s why I think it will work. First, by Sept the Marlins will have about 200 fans. Second, KB will be hurting. Third, it’s a great idea.

Oh and because I suck at pooterisms...
If you can combine IDD into some form of hi-res image involving SNY and/or GK&R that I can send to the graphics shop, this would make things much easier. My brother is only the most award winning graphic design guy in Europe, but he’s so busy with work that he won’t be of much use.

I'm not great at that either
but I can try—and hopefully call in some more favors

Bobby Parnell Dog

That strikes me more
as a John Franco Dog, due to Johnnie’s FDNY affiliation (I believe his dad was a firefighter and he would wear an FDNY T-shirt under his Mets shirt when he pitched, at least after 9/11). But seeing as I don’t have any better suggestions for Parnell Dog, and that I like this picture, it works…

Franco's dad was Sanitation, not Fire.
He was a DSNY shirt under his jersey.

Good catch
Maybe I somehow confused this with the FDNY cap he wore after 9/11, when the Mets wore various NYC first-responder caps. Anyway, Parnell Dog it is.

Oh fuck...
I just saw an ad for Marlins/Nationals on July 17. It is, and I am not kidding you, cowbell night. I guess yesterdays vuvuzela night proved not annoying enough (even though the local news guy ended today’s broadcast with the statement “I bet that guy [he who suggested vuvuzela night] was fired”.
That was hilarious
And the best part – the umpire misheard Fredi Gonzalez when he was presenting the roster – he wound up having the players bat out of order!
An excerpt from this article:
Still, Marlins president David Samson beamed over the promotion, pronouncing it a clear success.
“It was absolutely outstanding,” Samson said Sunday. "I got two e-mails from older people and we moved their seats because it was loud. To give you an idea, that is the least number of e-mails for things that go on during the course of a game that you could possibly have.

I assume the most emails would be 5
considering that is the amount of people typically at their games.

I'm not a businessman, nor do I run an MLB franchise,
but wouldn’t the lowest possible number of emails complaining about your promotion be, oh, I don’t know, ZERO?! That quote goes a long way toward explaining what’s wrong with the Marlins’ management: they value a stupid promotion no one will remember fondly once the World Cup has ended over the input of their own players and coaching staff, even at the possible cost of a win.
May you be locked in a battle of wits against Jerry Manuel.
