Well Darling is working on PIX
TBS doesn’t have exclusivity rights to any regular season games, so their broadcast is blacked out in the NYC area

I wouldn't have minded
Tatis at 2nd, Ruben at short and Jose at DH. He missed a year and and now he’s playing every day, it would be a good idea to get him some rest.
Plus Jose is in groove

Yeah
As I mentioned earlier, they don’t have exclusivity rights to any regular season games, so in NYC this game is blacked out (with no alternate programming, which I find kinda weird)

question regarding comments on YES broadcast
RE: Santana
when your fastball is 89 instead of 92-3, does that necessarily mean your changeup becomes less effective? I get how a decline in velocity can make a fastball less imposing, but isn’t it possible that relative to the fb the change can still get separation/be effective?
I.M. Forme
"When you get yourself into trouble is when you feel you have to do something, and then you get yourself in trouble." --Omar Minaya
Mets announcers always say its the difference between the fastball and changeup

the fist pump

But when a Yankee does it, it’s now no big deal? Fuck Cervelli.
shouldn't have to ban them
players should have enough class to realize that literally every time you do your job correctly a fist pump is not required in celebration, unless they’re just that surprised they did something right.

It's not that he's the problem per se,
I don’t really care if he’s hype or whatever. But when Jose Reyes, it’s a big storm and we’re flooded w. “he’s immature,” “he doesn’t play right,” etc. The double standard is what offends me.

Here's what I think
I don’t mind Jose Reyes or the way he acts or anything. That’s just me. When my brother (a mets fan) complains about Joba that bothers me. Why is K-Rod allowed to do that kind of stuff when Joba can’t? Double standards really anger people and I understand that

its his first full year
he cant be categorized as great. What an insult to the word
At some point
This lineup has to destroy a great pitcher
We cannot keep making that excuse over and over again
we did
see last time vs sabathia. we cant always be expected to
Fine
Then this team is going to get categorized as a fluke by the national media and is not going to be taken seriously until that point
not ALWAYS
but occasionally but lineup seems to come up short against good pitcher and good teams and if they want to advance to the next level they better start hitting the better half of the league
every line up comes up short against good pitching
hence why failing 60-70% of the time is considered acceptable
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.

santana change up value 2004-2008

Santana fastball value 2010: 6

i was about to say
thats not really a fair comparison. At least its still +6?
by KeithsMoustache on Jun 20, 2010 2:48 PM EDT up reply actions
His changeup value is tied to his fastball effectiveness (control, location, movement)
In lobby campaign for Chris Carter.
his fastball value has remained constant
it looks like there’s not as much of a speed difference between them as there was in previous years. but the difference is like less than a mph. from the pitch f/x page there seems to be a somewhat big difference in the horizontal movement of his fastball though.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
You should be using his numbers per 100 pitch since those are cumulative
04-08:
4.35, 2.80, 3.01, 1.58, 2.33
and in 2010: 1.48
i would use that
except I don’t at all understand what in the world it means.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.

its more excruciating to watch when they are down though
and especially when you are playing the yankees, who are consistently taking pitches and working the pitcher. the mets seem like they want to leave the ballpark as soon as possible when they are down.
"I only wanted a few things out of life -- a wife, children, to play baseball and to hunt deer." - Turk Wendell
what are you talking about
castillo is one of the hardest batters to strike out in the game?
yeah
but he’s the easiest guy to get to hit a weak ground ball. hacking isn’t about K’s at all. It’s about swinging at bad pitches in general. Whether you make contact or not is irrelevant because more often that not the contact is going to result in an unproductive out.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
His O-Swing
is up 4% & his O-Contact is up 11%. With that, he’s more likely to hit weak grounders as Gina noted.

Iggy = 6.76 FIP
Nieve = 5.49 FIP
In lobby campaign for Chris Carter.
yea but valdes hasnt pitched really since those awful outings
it could be ballooned if he was allowed to
really just have those san diego memories stuck in my head
since then he has only had two appearances – one shutdown against the o’s and one not great against the yanks
just saying
having him out there gives us 4 guys we should be able to trust – not like he is treated like that. helps the mets as an organization more in the minors, i agree
then i don't understand at all what you're saying
1. they don’t trust him
2. he helps the team more in the minors
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
im saying if youre looking at this 2010 team
we would need him out there because iggy and nieve are much bigger concerns right now. but that i still would want him in the minors because i am not just looking at this 2010 team
He's of way more importance
to the future of this team than they are. The Mets will still have SP questions next year, he’s too important to be mopping up.
"I want to win now, not 3 years from now. That's my stance." - Kevin Burkhardt
He has a great arm
But he’s not helping anything. GKR’s(& Burkhardt, but that’s to be expected) covering of Manuel is infuriating.
"I want to win now, not 3 years from now. That's my stance." - Kevin Burkhardt
lol these tbs announcers are morons
they’re talking about the sissy AL pitchers who can’t swing a bat
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
I have stuff I need to get out and do
But a 4 run deficit has been just enough to keep me in. Annoying.
Is the color guy eric karros?
He’s a dullard

CC is gonna get a shutout
There is no hope.... there is no future....there is only GRISSIONZ
The 2010 Mets- Hey, we may suck, but what did you expect?
Can't say the mets didn't have their chances
they just chose to swing at everyhing and pop out or GIDP whenever someone was on base

Have to give some credit to CC though
There is no hope.... there is no future....there is only GRISSIONZ
The 2010 Mets- Hey, we may suck, but what did you expect?
Of course you do
I just didn’t like the approach. You get the lead off man on every inning and hack away turning every inning into an easy one
by HotChipWillBreakYourLegs on Jun 20, 2010 3:38 PM EDT up reply actions
Some credit yes
but this is beyond ridiculous
im not sure
we swing at everything against everyone
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
We've been shutout once this year

The 2010 Mets- Hey, we may suck, but what did you expect?
Err, twice
There is no hope.... there is no future....there is only GRISSIONZ
The 2010 Mets- Hey, we may suck, but what did you expect?
we're also in the bottom of the league in runs scored
we’re still a below average team offensively
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
Never said we weren't
But that’s what happens when you start Francoeur and Barajas on a daily basis
Reyes, Pagan, Wright, Bay are still decently patient hitters.
There is no hope.... there is no future....there is only GRISSIONZ
The 2010 Mets- Hey, we may suck, but what did you expect?
Given the current talent we have on the field (minus the usual Cora), it's more troubling their approach at the plate than "lack of talent" itself.
Just looking at our lineup today, it’s not bad. Though their aggressiveness at the plate is obvious.
In lobby campaign for Chris Carter.
well really Bay, Reyes, and Wright
maybe Davis I don’t know much about his swing tendencies in the minors, are the only ones you would expect to not hack away.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
yeah you're right its absurd
i just looked up o-swing rates. everyone is up like 7-10%. Makes no sense.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
Isn't the rate up all around baseball?

That rain came outta nowhere
"I want to win now, not 3 years from now. That's my stance." - Kevin Burkhardt
I think the Cleveland game strengthed their stupid resolve to swing at everything
all those should have been outs turned into hits, and now they’re like obsessed with putting balls in play…more so than they were before.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
Man, I'm sad you said this.
Kind of like discussing a no-hitter in the 7th.

well dont know if this rain is going anywhere so pool time
ah i love south carolina weather
every fucking day, feels like 102 right now (according to weather.com)
also south carolina is the worst state in the union. Unless you live in the greenville area then he’s up in he mountains almost.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
Not South Carolina!
It’s not like they have a completely unqualified dude running for Senate among other things.
It was 103 when I was driving through central GA a few days ago.

it’s 102 with a storm coming in.
yes even when it’s pouring down raining it’s 100 degrees. have you ever sweated while it was raining (and you were outside). it’s a perplexing experience.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
I live in the Keys and spent last summer on the Panhandle
I have that experience every day this time of year. But yeah Georgia has it’s own special kinda heat.

i lived there outside of Destin for a few years

That's brutal
It was like 85 yesterday and I wanted to kill myself playing basketball. 103, I wouldn’t even leave the house
The ocean here is warmer than that.
This is how hot it is.

Does CW/PIX have any watchable shows?
Buffy was awesome, they had Veronica Mars for a year, and haven’t had anything since.

Who didn't like Buffy back in the day?
It wasn’t so great towards the end, but the first few seasons were epic. It makes having LOGO worthwhile.
They had Everybody
Hates Chris for a while.

Oh I guess not.
I switched over the discover how I could make recession proof profits from home, as related by that guy who looks like he should be heading up a high school drama club, and when I came back they were discussing Ubaldo Jiminez.

I was at the beach when that happened.

Can someone tell me how Jorge Sosa pitched for 9 years?
Look at his statline. A lot of better pitchers were kicked to the curb during this time.
I've never heard of this mariano river guy
hopefully the announcers can fill me in
by HotChipWillBreakYourLegs on Jun 20, 2010 4:09 PM EDT reply actions
Yeah he looks like he has some good stuff, but might need some polishing.
by MookieTheCat on Jun 20, 2010 4:10 PM EDT up reply actions
Nah,
back in spring Jerry said all Mejia needed was his fastball. He told him to stop throwing his secondary pitches too.
