Mets Home & Away wOBA Splits

A few notes.

  1. Jose Reyes has the largest spread between home and away at -0.159.
  2. David Wright has the smallest spread at just -0.011.
  3. Jeff Francoeur is actually performing better on the road this year and is a +0.036 on the road over his home performance.
  4. The perception is that Bay is doing terribly on the road, and his .313 wOBA is a testament to that, but his -0.089 spread is behind Reyes, Ike Davis, and Henry Blanco.

How do you make these graphs

and how long does it take to be this awesome?

The man has a gift

all of Justin’s graphs/charts combine being informative with being visually pleasing which is not an easy task.

I should intro him to my brother...

Who runs a graphic design company in Paris and has won all sorts of weird French design award.

Weird.

I thought Jason Bay’s problem was that he couldn’t handle playing in NY. I also thought that Jeff Francoeur had the right attitude to handle NY.

WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY WORLD??!?!?!?

That’s what you get for taking that blue pill.

What does my sex life have to do with this?

And are you my doctor?

Yes?

Now assume the position. It’s physical time!

Mr Bopp

should teach economics or politics to moody high-schoolers, they would love graphics like this. Though with more breasts, obviously.

Everything is better with more breasts.

I mean, attached to women, of course, not just floating out there on their own.

Jeez, I feel like I’m in an episode of Coupling (the British version).

“Three brains, Patrick.”
“Oh yeah, I forgot about that one.”

Possibly true

It was meant to be a compliment but it took off on a tangent

I like the graph... it is very telling

But on the description you said Wright’s spread is -0.11, I believe you meant -.011

thanks for the heads up vinny

The question is how both Wright and Pagan maintain near the same wOBA when on the road.

Would you rather have their .389/.352 average wOBAs both home and away or Reyes’ home dreams to suffer his away nightmares, all else being equal? (he averages .350 between both, btw).

I was flipping through some of my parents' photo albums this afternoon in search of one particular shot of the sign my older sister made for Mets Banner Day back in the late eighties. Though I didn't find that one — I'll post it when I eventually track it down, and I can assure you that it's Keith-themed — but I did stumble upon this wonderful photo of my younger sister's stuffed animal menagerie spread out in front of a glorious rainbow-festooned Mets pennant, also from the late eighties.

She works for the HRC now and was particularly delighted to be reminded of this photo.

Now that banner day is back, hopefully this years will look a little like this. I know it's not great, but i don't pretend to be a professional. embiggen!
In order to raise extra capital, the Mets have explored signing Kosuke Fukudome to a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training (replete with curiously high uniform number).
