Jeff Fancoor is teh roxx00rs.
He has pashun and hart and personality. Do your cool and progressive enlightened stats measure that? No, I didn’t think so. That’s the stuff that wins ballgames.

I dont think I understand
How on earth can you say Frenchy’s ARM is the problem? I have seen very few 3rd base coaches wave players home when the ball is hit to right field. And those who are waved are usually gunned down.
I didn’t read the whole article, and dont understand how they came up with this stat, but i doubt Francoeur is weighed down at all because of his throws.

I want Jerry Manuel fired now, not three years from now. That is my stance.- John Peterson

i cant read this all
is it just explaining how they have people sitting there watching every play and marking them based on an unbiased system?
stats, they are seriously never in Francoeur's favor
Yea, thats fair
Let me apologize for not having the fucking time or money to get the whole article.
here's an idea, don't comment?
if you can’t read it, then ignore it. Or ask someone what it says, or the methodology. Don’t admit your ignorance on the topic and then form a flippant opinion based on nothing.

not to mention all you have to do is read the opening few paragraphs
which are available to everyone not just insiders, to see that the misplay rankings are saying his arm is the problem or even that he’s a bad fielder.
We track 54 types of defensive misplays
this is just one of 54, not a ranking of the worst overall. And you don’t have to have access to the whole article to find that out. It

It's not that you don't can't read it,
as I and others hear don’t have Insider access either, but that you didn’t read the article but doubt the credibility of its findings.
Save Jenrry Mejia!
I think the title of this fanshot might be kind of misleading
It looks like the OP just picked out a category that Frenchy was rated poorly in and posted it. Can somebody who can read the whole article clarify?
You don't cheer for the Mets. You drink for the Mets.
about the third base coaches holding him up
i really don’t think that will last much longer. we been discussing his arm on this site a little lately and i am not the only one who has noticed its wildness. if i can see it, scouts can see it
stats, they are seriously never in Francoeur's favor
they just took away the last thing poor frenchy had going for him
THAT ROCKS!
stats, they are seriously never in Francoeur's favor
on a side note, i hate espn insider
its such a tease
stats, they are seriously never in Francoeur's favor
Hmm...
I can’t read the article, either, but I am rather skeptical of a statistic that ranks players based on such a small number. The league leader has 7. It just seems very similar to ranking fielders by the number of fielding or throwing errors they make, which doesn’t get you too far. Sure, the player who is multiple standard deviations above the mean in errors is probably not a good fielder, but the utility of a statistic like that seems rather limited to me.
I will also chime in about the deterrent effect of Francoeur’s arm, which seems difficult to measure. I would not expect a player like Francoeur to get very many OF assists, because players so rarely challenge it. With that said, I haven’t been able to read the article, so I may be misinterpreting this, and my objections may have been covered in the piece.
so what you are saying
is given more opportunities he could be worse
stats, they are seriously never in Francoeur's favor
I don't think this is actually a ranking of overall badness
just of these specific mistakes, most of these outfielders are actually in the top half of the league in defense.

Who cares
Jeff Francouer has GRISSION.
Gas prices today are a lot like a pitcher's ERA. Anything under 3 is amazing, under 4 is pretty good and anything 5 and up is something you want to avoid.
