We Did It!
That Brian McCann had the key hit doesn't make the win any less sweet. And no Trevor Hoffman to blow it this time.

Hurray
It’s about damn time, NL.
The NL had an amazing pitching rotation. I guessed the NL was gonna win 4-2 this morning; I was close.

Nice to see LOOGYs fucking it up for both sides
Sure, both teams have a staff full of ace pitchers… why not use LOOGYs!
What LOOGYs?
Kuo and Thornton are left-handed relief pitchers, but they’re not LOOGYs (both faced more righties than lefties on the season). And they’re also just really good: Kuo has an11.85 K/9 rate and 1.83 FIP, and Thornton has a 12.03 K/9 rate and a 1.86 FIP.

Yeah
35 Lefties faced, 0 hits, 3 walks, and 16 strikeouts. Not bad.

that was the best part
he hit both balls sharp too. The 1st Cano almost stabbed but the second right up the middle against 2 great pitchers in Price and Verlander.

Wright has a nice track record in the All-Star Game
A few hits, a few SB, a homer…

wow, the NL actually WON?
amazing. now let’s see if the Mets an get into the playoffs….because the All-star game “counts”!!
"Fantasy, reality, science Fiction. Which is which? Who can tell?"
One thing I was actually pleased about with last night's coverage...
They mentioned several times that the AL’s last several wins have been by one-run and come-from-behind. The NL has narrowed if not closed the talent gap that was glaring at the end of the 90s and early aughts. It was nice to see us get an actual hit in a high-leverage situation, and as Eric mentioned, no Trevor Hoffman in sight.

I mean
the best player in baseball is in the NL. Now, the best veteran pitcher in baseball is in the NL (Halladay). The guy who’s been the best pitcher for the past two years is in the NL (Lincecum). And, the best pitcher in the history of humanity is in the NL (Strasburg). I don’t know – I think the NL is gonna do alright for itself the next few years.
2009 Did Not Happen
Both league's eastern divisions will be beasts for several years
The AL is basically dominated by the big three bad boys in the east, and the rest of the league is sort of ho hum, though perhaps the Ms and Rangers might have some good young talent that will make them competitive for a while. Meanwhile the NL has a much nicer overall balance. No one team clearly dominates right now, and over the long-run I think our division is going to almost as tough as the AL East is right now, especially once the Nats prospects start to have an impact.
I think Jimenez is really good
but he doesn’t have the long-term track record of Halladay, the short term track record of Lincecum, or the future potential of Strasburg. But, yea, he’s an awesome pitcher too. It wasn’t meant to be an exhaustive list…
2009 Did Not Happen
i disagree with that last part
his pitches are too ridiculous and he is still young not to have the future potential of stras. also, he had gotten much better last year and i believe was many peoples pick to win the cy young preseason
I like Ike
I am going to take offense for Trevor Hoffman
If not for the stupidity of Phil Garner, Hoffman has a 1-2-3 inning. Garner left Scott Rolen on the bench and left Miguel “The Statue” Cabrera in at third.
So the best defensive third basemen in baseball sits on the bench when possibly the worst is in for the ninth inning.
After two quick outs hit right back at Hoffman, a ball hit right next to Cabrera has Cabrera doing jack-all to stop it. Rolen makes that play, game over.
So lets not just blame Hoffman.
