Shouldn't the photos be

Beltran vs. the Giants pitcher ?.

One day, this team is going to kill me.

NO.

Triple Voltron serves nicely.

by bjk3047 on Jul 15, 2010 9:35 PM EDT up reply actions

It would be logical to start Beltran the first 3 games

and then rest him Sunday, that way Frenchy doesn’t face a righty

Jerry is an idiot though, so I fully expect Francoeur vs Cain on Saturday

There is no hope.... there is no future....there is only GRISSIONZ

The 2010 Mets- Hey, we may suck, but what did you expect?

by Syler on Jul 15, 2010 9:37 PM EDT up reply actions

Pagan will probably play in place of Bay one game.

that would make it work.

One day, this team is going to kill me.

by fxcarden on Jul 15, 2010 9:37 PM EDT up reply actions

Since it's clearly necessary

to bench Bay three games after the break. Thanks Jerry!

by bjk3047 on Jul 15, 2010 9:39 PM EDT up reply actions

well, would you rather bench Pagan ?.

Bay doesn’t need to play every game, especially the way he has been.

Then again, neither does Francoeur, but this is the Mets, and Frenchy is a good clubhouse guy, etc.

One day, this team is going to kill me.

by fxcarden on Jul 15, 2010 9:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah I think you caught my drift midway thru your post

Frenchy needs to be shown the door. Screw it, put Carter in if Beltran needs a day off.

by bjk3047 on Jul 15, 2010 9:42 PM EDT up reply actions

um....

he’s a switch hitter ?.

One day, this team is going to kill me.

by fxcarden on Jul 15, 2010 10:14 PM EDT up reply actions

so Francoeur would only play against lefties

and then Pagan would actually play more than Francoeur.

So far today......

survived the 3rd round of layoffs so far this year at my job.

survived the appearance of a monster black bear in my back yard.

now…..if Dickey delivers, and Beltran belts, this day will be a win.

by Bruce Wayne on Jul 16, 2010 12:40 AM EDT reply actions

Oh, Jerry...

Christ hes terrible. I mean yeah the bats were owned by Lincecum, but man, Jerry really made sure we weren’t going to win tonight; if we had a competent manager it might have been 1-1 or still 1-0 heading to the 9th. But no, lets bunt with Dickey (that was gold) and bring in Dessens, the dude with peripherals who scream for implosion, instead of a more reliable arm like Parnell for the 8th! And then the smaller things like batting Cora 2nd (why not Thole? Fuck the 7-8-9 hitters, put your best guys at the top) and making Beltran attempt a stolen base when the heart of the order was up (again, why? With 2 outs and, say, Tejada up — okay, I suppose .. but in that spot, with Davis up, and 1 out? Its sort of an inning killer.)

Being 5 games back blows, regardless of how ‘early’ it is, but I could care less about the division title anyway. Just get in the playoffs and I’ll be very happy.

Except last year they were supposed to be a 500+ team...

Failure is especially scary with the Mets when it becomes the norm. I lived through the 90s. I do not want to do it again.

every year they suck, they're supposed to be a .500+ team

personally, i picked them to finish dead last this year. and they would have if maine and perez had stayed in the rotation. this wild card contention is a complete surprise to me. but this is not their year.

Yeah, they need to send a thank you card...

To Cleveland, Baltimore and the like for their interleague success that led to big crowds for a while…

Dear Mr. Migliore,

Yes, we know, we know. I didn’t even watch the game until the 8th and I know. That said, we all appreciate and understand your pain at the situation, because we are with you. Keep the faith, sir, as you walk into the cold night, and know you are not alone.

9 runs scored, past 6 games

It’s never as good as it seems during a winning streak nor as bad during a losing streak, but I can’t comprehend how this offense can be so bad. Pagan and Wright are having great years, Ike has been solid, even Bay’s OBP is manageable. Jose had his great stretch after getting healthier. Somehow we just don’t score runs, and that’s the way it has been all year. Cora/Castillo/Tejada are such negatives in the order, barajas/blanco is pretty bad offensively, and with Francoeur, it was like 3 sub .300 OBP’s and a pitcher. I think we’ll be alright with Beltran back, but we need some serious upgrades offensively at catcher and 2B. Thole needs more starts, initially I was down with Ruben, but with this weeeak lineup we can’t afford his useless bat in the order,

Just remembered...

The other night when I saw Wright was tied for the RBI lead. I was amazed.

I think they really miss that Reyes jolt at the top of the lineup

they aren’t the same team without him getting on base, scoring runs and playing good D. The team has lots of guys get hot for periods (frenchy, Barajas, Ike) but if they wanna stay in it, there is one guy that has not done his part. Yeah, I’m talking to you: Jason K

The real turning point

was when Jerry pulled the double sacrifice in the 5th, couple that with Thole lighting a fire by hitting Lincecum and that was basically it

Thole almost took his head off

with a line drive up the middle.

2013 ALL-STAR GAME(TM) LOGO CONTEST

Major League Baseball has formally announced that Citi Field will be the site of the 2013 All-Star Game. (see video) In light of this, I have decided to launch an All-Star Game logo contest. To help get you started, I provided all of you with a sample All-Star Game logo. (click here to embiggen) If you wish to participate, please enter your submission with an image below, in the comments section. The contest ends on May 31st. I will choose a select number of finalists, and the community will vote on which of those logos is the best one.

Can you create a better logo than the sample logo provided? Then, give it a shot. Good luck to all participants!
