Beltran Soft?
Ok, I've had enough. I hear it day in and day out from so call Mets "fans" that Carlos Beltran is a soft player. He doesn't hustle. He doesn't try. He has done nothing but hurt this team since it was announced he was returning. So here it is, I want those who have something against Carlos Beltran to voice it here. I want to have proof. I want to have evidence. If you can't come up with anything, STFU about our VOLTRON!

We present to you, one of the best players in baseball this past decade
TRAID CARLOSS BELTWRONG!
"It ain't going to be pretty. No fine is going to be big enough. No suspension is going to be long enough." ~Gary Sheffield
I think that Mets fans feel that he coasts sometimes because everything appears so easy
and he is such a fluid athlete. I honestly feel not that he is soft, but that he does coast sometimes and doesn’t play as hard as he should, an example being the triple on Monday.
Fans don’t want to see you wave your glove at the ball. For $119 million, they want to see you dive (or actually take the correct path to the ball). I think there are spots where he coasts, but the vast majority of the time, he hustles and play hard. I think it is those few times that casual fans see that turns them off.
What they don’t realize is that what he brings to the table far outweighs a handful of these instances over the last 5 years.
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but Jerry abuses the privilege.
Additionally, I don't believe the casual fan knows what he was going through with the knee
basically from the time he signed with the Mets. They just call him soft when in actuality, the guy was playing with a pretty serious knee ailment that a lot of guys would not have fought through.

you know who else always made it look easy?
Joe DiMaggio. What a lazy bum – the Yankees would have been much better off without him…
2009 Did Not Happen
dickey is never soft
he should mentor beltran
I like Ike, I hate Jerry
More facial hair...
… would add apparent grit.

a full beard might help draw attention from the mole
John Olerud, Hall of Famer. Got a nice ring to it.
I think the perception is
that he’s a warrior. He’s definitely not “outgoing”, but I don’t think he’d really strongly affect the “chemistry” one way or another.
I BLAME CASTILLO.
I just like the way Pagan plays the game better.
Beltran is a nice player, but his reputation and contract precede him. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say Pagan is the 19 million dollar player. He is awesome.
Yes, I like Jeff Francoeur and listen to WFAN. No, I am not a troll.
but...but
Pagan took Frenchy’s place, not Beltran. Angel was filling in for Beltran, with the assumption that Beltran would reclaim the CF position once he returned. How can you call the guy who bumped your guy to the bench “awesome”?
It's a game of redeeming features. ~ Bob Murphy
Because Pagan is my favorite player overall
And he’s clearly better than Beltran right now, the man he was replacing…I mean it’s not even close…how many big hits and big plays has Pagan made? Imagining the Mets without him this season is a difficult and ugly thing to do.
Yes, I like Jeff Francoeur and listen to WFAN. No, I am not a troll.

Beltran has been in what 5 games?
Yeah, it’s clearly fair to compare the two.
/facepalm

2005 season, 2006 game 7 K
Casual fans never got past those points.
