This isn't that bad until you get to the part where Bay is 7th

He hit second in the order exactly once this season, which isn’t enough to say with any kind of authority that it “didn’t work.”

I don’t mind it…let’s see what happens and if this can the offense going. I’m just glad there’s no Francoeur or Barajas in there at this point. The only thing I don’t like is Castillo 2nd since you know that is an automatic sac bunt if Reyes gets on base.

i think it's weird that they'll relegate Bay to 7th and bat Castillo 2nd

but this is the stupidest fucking lineup I’ve seen since Captain Dumbass tried to hit Reyes 3rd. The entire reason the offense lit up in June is that Castillo’s lame ass was on the DL and not clogging up the 2 hole with his slaps and bunts while Pagan was ripping it up like Reyes Lite.
Anything that takes ABs away from Pagan and Wright is indefensibly stupid.

I don't think batting a guy with a .343 OBP in the 2 hole is close to the same as filling the entire lineup with suck

is pretty close. If they want the obp then put Bay there. At least he can get the ball out of the endzone. If there wasn’t such thing as an empty .340 obp before this season Castillo has since invented it. You can live with a .370+ obp, and 370-400ish slugging. 343 is barely above average and in no way makes up for sub 300 slugging.

Eh, there are plenty of good managers that still put Castillo types in the 2 hole

while being one of the worst slugging players in the league. He is one of the worst hitters in the league literally. He is actually as bad as Jeff Francouer at this point.

I was going to add that in most situations, batting Bay 2nd would be the "no shit" solution
However, given the way this entire offense, and especially Bay, has performed, putting someone who walks at a decent margin in the 2 hole isn’t the dumbest thing Jerry has ever done.

but i have a bigger feeling pagan will be slumping shortly…partly due to me picking him up in fantasy -
my list of met pickups and subsequent fails include: frenchy, barajas, pagan (immediately proceeded to go into a small slump), and mike pelfrey..let’s see how this goes
I grabbed Pagan about 2 months ago
He’s been awesome for me. You’d better not ruin him.
