Would you guys have given up Pelfrey or Niese to get him? Or one of our top minor leaguers? I'm incensed the Mets didn't put together a package to beat what the Angels gave. Even if this year is hopeless, he's a cost controlled ace until 2013. A front of rotation with santana-haren-pelf is pretty wicked, and there's really nowhere else to get that caliber of pitcher in FA for such a low price. I like Niese and Pelfrey, but if one of them and prospect or two was all it took, I'd be in on that.
