I’m in that weird mode where I really don’t care if we lose or win. Its like last year; a win is always good, but a loss is another step towards a better draft position. Its a very weird position, but you don’t nearly get as upset from a loss as you would if you were in the playoff hunt.
I don't think we suck nearly as much as we did last year
and besides, draft picks are kind of inconsequential for this team

It’s sometimes hard for even smart people to reprogram themselves.
There was actually a study at some point that found that it works.
I don’t know that I can find it, but you actually do get a slight advantage batting the pitcher 8th, especially when you factor in that you’ll pinch hit later on anyway. Not to mention that I don’t know that any of the Mets pitchers are really worse hitters than, say, Alex Cora when he plays, or Jeff Francoeur when he plays.

Though Castillo’s IsoPatience is pretty good, so if his BA normalizes a bit he should get on more. Obviously Pagan should be batting 2nd and Castillo should be toward the bottom, but it’s not as egregious as, say, Cora. It makes me want to commit violent crimes when Cora bats 2nd.

I think there's a little room for improvement
BaseballHQ (who has my preferred xBA metric) has him underperforming by about 30 points. Agreed that the decline is there and the speed is gone. I’ve been wanting them to get rid of him for two years. But he’s at least likely to be a player of some value for the rest of the year as opposed to the Mets’ many players of no value.

Pedro Feliciano takes fewer days off than the postal service (26 times he’s worked on zero days rest). It’s happened 93 times in total for New York, 89 for Cincy, then no other team is over 80, with Tampa Bay, Colorado, Atlanta, and Houston all sitting at 75 or more.
