So I cant stand Luis Castillo. I feel like whenever he is around, the Mets play bad.

But that is just how I feel. I, having been reading this blog for a while, have learned to be skeptical of what I see and to always look for numbers to back it up. So I went onto baseball-reference and did just that.

I looked for time Castillo was on the DL. Long periods of non-play. This isnt about his production on the field.  This was about the time when he wasnt even around. Not off games, literally at home out of the clubhouse. Could he be the anti-Frenchy (...Germany?) and just make everyone around him stink?

Lets check out the numbers:

2007:

with (after traded to team) – 25 W 25 L
without (before traded to team) – 58 W 46  L

2008 (adjusted after it was pointed out my math was wrong):

with –58 W 57 L
without (July 3 – Aug 24) – 31 W 16 L

2009:

No time on DL
70 W 92 L

2010:

with – 24 W 30 L 
without (June 2 – July 18)  22 W 17 L

I mean... seriously. Dude is a cancer. Get him off the Mets!
