Lou Gehrig's Disease might need renaming?
Was he a habitual liar about his health though?

This is rubbish!
Playing baseball can't lead to serious injuries like in football
There is no hope.... there is no future....there is only GRISSIONZ
The 2010 Mets- Hey, we may suck, but what did you expect?
I find this suspect...
How many baseballs bounced off of his head? Was he that bad a fielder? Was this the head ball era? I think the UK folks who wrote this paper might not understand that getting a ball in the head is not a common occurrence, like oh, say, being tackled is in football. I think that the point about misdiagnised football players is believable, but once again science diminishes potentially useful results with overreach. Did I miss something here?
Not a single hehe for the head ball era comment?
Oh come on people? That was comedy GOLD.

Just because you CAN disprove Lou Gehrigs died of a specific disease, bringing attention and therefore increased medical attention and funding to cure it...
doesn’t mean you SHOULD.
John Olerud, Hall of Famer. Got a nice ring to it.
meh, ALS is going to get attention one way or the other
Hey, wait! I'm having one of those things. You know? A headache with pictures?

you can't deny it wasn't good exposure for the disease
in the sense that it was in the public consciousness.
