How about an Orange Monster at Citi Field for Bay?

My neighbor had a spare yankee ticket so i took it and went, and to my dismay they lose.
The one day I’m not on this forum the Mets have their best offensive game in weeks. My luck.
I hate this team so much, that I love them to death.
wait, to your dismay?
aren’t you supposed to be happy that the yankees lose? unless “they” is reffering to another team.
I know, but I'm saying like 99% a watch or go to a game the team loses.
I have been to 8 Mets games and everytime they lost. I’m just saying I have horrible luck.

we need to stay far away from each other
I hate Philadelphia so much.
What do we do for 2011?
obviously a new slogan will be unfurled at some point on the website in the winter.
and we fans want a new : GM, Manager,Training staff,Owner, Batting coach, starting pitcher, 2baseman, and others.
will we get any of those?
Um…..should we prepare our hearts for more heartache next year or will it be the year?
I hate Philadelphia so much.
i always prepare myself for the worst
so that if the worst happens, my expectations are met. if anything good happens, it’s a bonus.

Josh Beckett has the same 6.7 ERA as Ollie (admittedly a lot of that vs. NYY and TB). He is owned 4/68 after this season. Would you trade Ollie for Beckett?

i dont know about that.
i’m not sold on ladanians legs or the dirty sanchez.
I hate Philadelphia so much.
im not sure how much a wr can help bad qbing
especially one with so-so hands. Holmes isn’t a posession sure handed go to go type, he’s a deep threat. That’s not going to really help a shaky qb much.
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon
Well I think Sanchez is going to much better this year
The Jets are a match-up nightmare. They have three good borderline great receivers, they have a tight end whos faster than most linebackers and LT is still a good pass catching rb
eh I don't really see much reason to expect Sanchez to be better
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon
Sophomore drop
lt in the flat is scary. Holmes is suspended the first 4 games right? So its really Cotchery and edwards. Edwards has drop issues.
that division is up in the air. Miami is good and the pats will be good too
I hate Philadelphia so much.
It is a good division and yea Holmes is out the first 4
But they improved on a #1 defense by getting Cromartie Wilson and Jenkins is coming back from an injury
Eh Cromartie has been one of the worst cbs in the league
the last few years, he’s not really much more than decent depth. And without Revis their D takes a massive hit considering they have no pass rush. Taylor might help but there real problem is a lack of real 3-4 ends.
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon
I don't think Cromartie is an upgrade
Dude can’t tackle to save his life
There is no hope.... there is no future....there is only GRISSIONZ
The 2010 Mets- Hey, we may suck, but what did you expect?
I compleatley disagree Cro has been awesome in camp
and still can be a good shutdown corner and hes working on tackling
I don't see how he can be
when he’s literally been one of the worst corners in the league since his first season. one of my friends does cb tracking and stats for fanball. Cromartie always ranks near the very bottom. If Cromartie starts over Lowry he’ll get picked on all day with no pass rush, especially if Revis is out.
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon
he had 10 picks in his second year
But its all a moot point if Revis is out
Yeah ten picks
because he left recievers to make big plays, he had ten picks, do you know how many failed picks attempts and because of that massive plays he gave up he was torched all year because of it? Judging cbs solely on interceptions is like judging players on rbis and avg.
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon
I'm not only judging him on that
hes one of the best athletes in the league and hes having a great camp
Would Pagan have gotten that?

My note to ESPN under the "report a bug" button.
Usually when someone scores the score is other than 0-0. I could be wrong here, but ya know, pretty sure I’m not. The Mets need all the runs they actually do score, so please credit them. Thx.

Education makes you a better person – oh and Keith it may be nice to have an education to fall back on on but its also nice to have $750,000.00 to fall back on in case things don’t work out. Also maybe he’s just smarter than most 1st round draft picks.
Keith and Gary were going on about how great it was the Alvarez turned down $750k
to go to Vanderbilt. My opinion is that he’s a smart kid and it was probably a good experience for him but in no way is it the morally superior decision that Keith and Gary seemed to think it was.
Take the $750k...Then go to Vanderbilt...

Education does make you a better person IMO....
Education causes many to look at the world rationally and objectively. This leads to informed decisions rather than fearmongering. There is a chart of cities in the US and their %s of people with college degrees. It tells you a lot.
by MookieTheCat on Aug 21, 2010 8:38 PM EDT up reply actions
Maybe I've just had bad experiences with education.
I can honestly say, the period of my life where I learned the most was when I stopped going to high school. I’m in college now and occasionally I’ll get an excellent professor or two, but mostly I just see education as business like any other.

by this guy's logic
no one ever gets fired. the workd is one big union.
LOL
wow, I don’t even know what to say to that. Though someone at the NY Times apparently thinks Omar hasn’t made many more mistakes than guys like Friedman and Epstein and that he’s not responsible for most of the citifield mess and that we’ll regret it like the Padres regret getting rid of Towers.

by Mike Clemente on Aug 21, 2010 8:31 PM EDT up reply actions
This is probably true
but I can’t imagine he thinks he’ll get many calls for another gm job after this, and being head of scouting would still be a pretty prestigious job.
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon

and this may sound dumb but he’s in like his late 50s/60s isn’t he? after this hot mess he may not want the stress of a gm job again.

He finds guys like Dickey. He was trying to sign him for a while but it never worked out until this year.
He found Dickey?
He got a 3rd starter that was necessary because 3 out of his 5 initial starters crapped out? Genius
Point is that if you try out 14 guys a year then someone is gonna work out. Let’s all celebrate the 35 yo knuckler with the missing ligament. Great.
by MookieTheCat on Aug 21, 2010 8:41 PM EDT up reply actions
and Tatis and Valentine
endy, carter (the trade was horrible but all things considered Carter isn’t a bad return when dealing with Epstein), Gotay, Church. It seems like when he’s not dealing with former names he actually does a good job with the small signings.
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon
Eh...
Look at that list. Nothin stupendous. A lot of guys who turned out to be good in the short run but flamed out. And this encompasses what, 5 years? Stopped clock is right twice a day. Look at all the bad small deals he’s done. I just don’t get it. I really don’t.
by MookieTheCat on Aug 21, 2010 8:44 PM EDT up reply actions
But he's done that on a consistent basis
Every year in brings in 1 or 2 or 3 guys who everyone scoffs at, or who we all think will be insignificant and they make an impact.
This is exactly my point...
1, 2, or 3 guys a year does not cut it, if you audition a dozen or more. And it’s not like these guys are All Stars. Kind of like Chris Rock said about folks who say “I take care of my kids.” SO WHAT, YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO. A decent GM should bring in 3 guys a year who are undervalued, plus do all the other things. That someone is rising just above the acceptable floor does not make them good. It makes them average in one way out of many.
by MookieTheCat on Aug 21, 2010 9:04 PM EDT up reply actions
well that's why he's not a decent gm
and no one’s saying he should be gm or is a decent gm…
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon
We are not saying he is a decent GM.
He is not, but he has some skills that could be valuable as a scout.
Also...
Has anyone seem where these guys come from? Not where they live, but who is recommending them? I doubt Omar is beating the bushes (which is where, I bet, he found Dickey), but are these guys coming from other scouts in the org and Omar just taking the credit?
by MookieTheCat on Aug 21, 2010 9:09 PM EDT up reply actions
Sorry...Perhaps I was less than clear.
Calling someone a good scout based on 1, 2, or 3 undervalued players a year doesn’t hold water. This is the bare minimum for a GM who is a bad scout, and I don’t see how it translates into a good scout (in other words, it’s what he should be doing anyway, and no merit badge comes from what you should be doing anyway). Maybe if he found Joe Mauer on the scrapheap then yes, good scout. He found Ruben Gotay, Endy Chavez etc. Not bad players, but not exactly Sidd Finch either.
by MookieTheCat on Aug 21, 2010 9:17 PM EDT up reply actions
I think that's kind of the point of major league scouting

don't call him a boob - he's my 1st cousin
I’ll tell you a story though. I used to read his blog all the time until one day I made a comment about how stupid pitcher W-L was and one of the regulars mocked it. I thought about trying to form a cogent response explaining why pitcher W-L is stupid but then I thought ’what’s the point?’ – I’ve really been mostly at AA since
isn't saying 'cousin' enough?
Isn’t the 1st implied?

here cousin could mean 3rd cousin, or someone who’s not even really related to you but you grew up together and your families are close or something.
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon
John Delcos isn't a boob
I’m guessing he was trying to rationalize the Wilpon’s reasoning for keeping Minaya…essentially that if they are “rebuilding”, which I doubt, no point in firing Omar to do so.

It was on Mets Merized Online-John wrote it
I just don’t understand how someone can have watched this team for the last few years and not want to Oedipus Rex himself.
No he's cool
but arguing a sabermetrically enlightened position in the comments section was an uphill battle to say the least
I am sure he is. I have agreed with some of his entries
a little too rosy in outlook but that is his prerogative. I am having trouble suppressing rage when Omar is not properly excoriated for his complicity with the Wontpons in the degradation of this organization.
I don't know too much about concussions but -
if he’s really fine to play with 20 game left – why not just have him play?
because he could be fine for a week
and then have symptoms come back. There’s just no reason to risk it in a loss season with such a dangerous injury with so little information on.
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon
concussions are very difficult to deal with.

Rastas didn't invest dreads.
They have been around so long as folks have had beeswax. Just because God needs a handle to pick you up does not mean that you can claim a hairstyle. Plus, dreads are no requirement for Rastafarianism. It is not a dreadlock thing, it’s a spiritual thing etc.
That said, they look ridiculous on most people.

But he was great in Arrested Development. Then he played the same character in:
- Juno
- Superbad
- Nick and Norah’s Infinite Shitlist
- Youth in Revolt
- Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
I acknowledge he sucks and yet have seen all of these movies. Superbad was good I guess, but the rest are incorrigible, mainly because of Cera.

Some Cheap Critiques: what i can remember, after liking Cera in AD
- Juno—not as annoyed as i thought i’d be, instantly forgotten
- Superbad—mildly amusing forgotten next day
- Nick and Norah’s Infinite Shitlist—i only remember two things about that. (I hope she’s legal.)
- Youth in Revolt—wha?
- Scott Pilgrim vs. The World —saw commercials against my will. Concluded Cera is a joke.
