The bad news is

Kevin did the opening
The good news is
it looks like they’re not letting him inside the stadium tonight

+1

I yelled “No!” out loud when I heard his voice in the intro. But I exhaled when he assured me that Gary would be doing the play-by-play.

Has anyone seen the stadium this empty in the last few years?

It looks like the Marlins stadium. Or was there a derailment on the 7 train?

That's fairly usual....

That night was exagerrated but these guys bitch about balls and strikes all the time. ALL the time. The first game of the series they mentioned that the pitchers seemed to have different strike zones about 15 times.

by MookieTheCat on Aug 26, 2010 7:34 PM EDT up reply actions

well if he gets to .390

then there’s hope he’ll be an elite player next year. If not we’re screwed anyway so we might as well contract

mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon

This just looks at streaky as being indicative of something...

I don’t think a late season run is any more indicative of next year’s performance than if he were to be benched right now.

by MookieTheCat on Aug 26, 2010 7:39 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't see how it looks less indicative

even if he’s streaky if he’s streaky to the point of being an elite player it still counts whether it comes in waves or all at once. If he sucks then he’ll just consistently suck. I mean at least if he goes on a tear every other month we’ll know next year we’ll have a tear to look forward too. If he just sucks the rest of the year, we’ll have suckage to look forward too all next year.

im not sure thats true

mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon

by Gina on Aug 26, 2010 8:14 PM EDT up reply actions

No

How many countless times have I heard an announcer say in the fourth quarter of a football game that that great interception has shifted the momentum, only for the offense to go 3 and out.

by Evan_S on Aug 26, 2010 8:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Here's an example...

In the 2007 NFC divisional playoffs, the Cowboys went on a massive 10 minute drive near the end of the 1st half, scored a TD, and took a 14-7 lead. The Giants followed that by tying the game in 53 seconds.

The game was tied at the end of the half, but undoubtedly the Giants had more momentum going into the 2nd half.

The 2010 Mets- Hey, we may suck, but what did you expect?

by Syler on Aug 26, 2010 8:18 PM EDT up reply actions

That doesn't prove anything

If they had so much momentum, why did they only score 7 points in the second half? The game came down the final seconds anyway, it’s not like they went on a tear in the second half.

by Evan_S on Aug 26, 2010 8:22 PM EDT up reply actions

I guess it's not so much of actual performance as much as boosted confidence

And while the Giants offense didn’t go on a tear, the Cowboys offense, which was dominant in the half, went completely stagnant in the 2nd half, like they had the air let out of them.

There is no hope.... there is no future....there is only GRISSIONZ

The 2010 Mets- Hey, we may suck, but what did you expect?

by Syler on Aug 26, 2010 8:24 PM EDT up reply actions

oh yeah thats stupid

but there are times when a defense can be dominating all game and all of a sudden the offense they’re facing puts a few good plays together scores fast and they’re reeling the next few series. i.e The pats-colts game last year. Or times when picks actually can completely change the face of the game, i.e the tracey porter pick in the superbowl when before the colts offense had been matching the saints point for point, and actually had been WAY more efficient. after that tey never got their rhythm back.

And it’s definitely in basketball when a teams getting a lot of fast break points and not allowing the other team to get their defense set.

At one point, the Mets were leading 4-0 and had the bases loaded, nobody out

And we’re now losing by 6 runs

That’s impressive suckage

There is no hope.... there is no future....there is only GRISSIONZ

The 2010 Mets- Hey, we may suck, but what did you expect?

no one

can suck like a met

I'd like to blame this whole game on the bad call at first

However, I can’t help but feel like had he called it correctly, it wouldn’t have made a difference with regards to the game’s outcome.

is this the worst team, dollar for dollar, in the known universe?

meaningless positives we can garner from Igarashi’s meaningless appearance…..ah, fuck it!

So..........

I decided to put up a poll for y’all regarding Reyes, in case anyone cares to participate.

Hey !. Don't talk to my mami like that.

Loria actively tries to trash his team

yet "the Mets have spent about $816 million more than the Marlins to win five more games and one fewer title."

So assuming the Wilpons are trying, this means that the mets would be better if sold to Loria.

7 runs

we’ll hit a 2 out grand slam…then it will get called back by crappy umpiring and we’ll lose in the next at bat.

2013 ALL-STAR GAME(TM) LOGO CONTEST

Major League Baseball has formally announced that Citi Field will be the site of the 2013 All-Star Game. (see video) In light of this, I have decided to launch an All-Star Game logo contest. To help get you started, I provided all of you with a sample All-Star Game logo. (click here to embiggen) If you wish to participate, please enter your submission with an image below, in the comments section. The contest ends on May 31st. I will choose a select number of finalists, and the community will vote on which of those logos is the best one.

Can you create a better logo than the sample logo provided? Then, give it a shot. Good luck to all participants!
