Wilpon: Minaya will be back as Mets GM
Our nightmare continues. It's a short article but it's full of fail. Ffffuccckkkk.
Side note: I'm not really the leader type, but I'm seriously thinking about starting a rally/protest at Citi in October when we inevitably find out that this clown is back for another lost year. This is out of freakin' control.

oh god why did I just read that
Wilpon was also asked about the job performance of his son Jeff, who is the Mets’ COO.
"Excellent, everybody knows that," Fred said.
Excuse me, I have to go vomit for a few days.
That quote
shows me just how out of touch Fred is. I understand it’s his son but…come on.

Seriously what an asshole
The arrogance in the face of incredible incompetence is pretty impressive

this is the absolute best part of the entire story
I want Jerry Manuel fired now, not three years from now. That is my stance.- John Peterson
You beat me to this.
but seriously. Does Fred really think fans will buy his line of shit anymore? Does he either not care what fans think/want? Or does he even buy into his shit. And by everyone does he really mean no one?
The headline is misleading
The quote on which the article is based is:
Wilpon, in East Hartford, Conn., to help announce a new partnership between SNY and UConn athletics, brushed aside reporters’ inquiries about his floundering Mets. But as Wilpon walked away, a Post reporter asked if Minaya would remain the team’s GM beyond this year.
"Is the sun going to come up tomorrow?" Wilpon answered.
It’s a stupid response, but to take a flippant remark and to turn it into a news story is misleading.

This IS the Post we're talking about
so your comment is redundant.
Oh, the butcher and the baker and the people on the street: wheredotheygo?!?!?
i give up

Somebody make some "Fire Omar" t-shirts
And buy a whole bunch of brown paper bags. I’d be willing to trek up to Citi for a massive event like that.
Either that or “Sell the Mets”. Something along those lines.
Flagged.
Consequences will never be the same.

Im not going to lie
You all may think Im a jerk/not a fan/whatever but I have not gone to citifield once this year and this is the first season since… 1999 I have not purchased Met merchandise of any kind.
Logic is simple, I still spend a hell of a lot of time covering the team but the only way to influence behavior is to hit the team in the wallet. This can easily be seen as front running but while I can support my team with rooting for them and visibly still wearing merchandise I wont spend more money on them until I agree with the decisions they are making. Hell Im more apt to wear Mariners gear (my AL team) since while they suck at least they are making solid decisions.
Sorry, maybe Im wrong but thats the only way I know how to influence this team’s behavior since Ill never get a job there.

many of us have exercised the option of not giving them our money until they give us something worth paying for
Hey, wait! I'm having one of those things. You know? A headache with pictures?

i kind of wish more fans would do this
though apparently plummeting ticket sales haven’t gotten their attention either

I'm going to go to only one game in September
instead of three. It’s kind of a lame protest but I don’t know when I’ll be back in the US, it might not be another 3 or 4 years, so I don’t want to completely miss out.
My experiences as a Mets fan have really
outlined just how stupid the whole argument of front-running fan-bases is; or at least the ones that are supported by saying “well when your team sucked, the stands were empty!”.
Save Jenrry Mejia!
Definitely with you on that
I might take a trip to Citi next year just because I live in Philly and havent been there yet, but it’s more because I want to see the stadium and less because I want to see the Mets.
The silver lining to this is that Fred kind of has to say this no matter what.
But still, it’s a bit scary to think he’s for real.
I was hoping talk of Backman as manager was premature
based on Omar getting fired and the Wilpons being forced to let the new GM pick his own manager to mislead him into thinking he has complete control, just as they made a big deal about Omar having complete autonomy when he took over. That’s probably why Jeff would want to keep Omar on.
they'll probably hire a manager
and let him pick his own gm to control

Me: "I'm not giving this asshole another dime until he fires him"
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but Jerry abuses the privilege.
the only better response would have been him saying
“who the hell is Omar”

"So wait...
when did we fire Leo Durocher?"

Well this sucks.
Whaddya all think this means for Jerry?
Ryan Miller was the true MVP.
I really hate Jerry.
"In our eyes, he should have won skipper of the year."

Fred says Jeff is doing a good job
Jeff says Omar is doing a good job.
Omar says Jerry is doing a good job.
10 million Mets fans say they all are doing a bad job. All the while, they wonder why Citi Field is half empty.
Maybe you can get away with this stuff in Kansas City, but not here. Get a frigging clue.
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but Jerry abuses the privilege.
I love this.
This automatically get Rec’d.

lol i feel like fred says jeff is doing a good job and everyone knows
because Jeff has “everyone” fill out evaluation sheets with a pink slip attached to give to his father.
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon
I am telling you
Wilpons love underlings who screw up, so it makes them look less like the morons they are!….or some such theory, anyway. another words: “screw you, fans!”
"Fantasy, reality, science Fiction. Which is which? Who can tell?"
At this rate
I’ll have to start praying that Bud Selig does what David Stern did to the Knicks and force them to fire their imcompetent GM. Unfortunately, Omar has no sexual harassment accusations.
