hahaha what?
is he implying the mets still have a chance to win games?

KB's stance...
“Without Cora, the Mets grission power has gone down by immense proportions. Now they’ll be even worse than before! Who’s going to fill the useless vet quota to help this team win now, not three years from now?”

Don't Worry
Barajas will be back in no time to fill that void.
What a moron
The thing he doesn’t seem to get is that, even more important than the $2 million (which is important), is that this frees up a roster spot for another player next year.
This year is a lost cause, but why lock yourself into one really shitty player for 2011 already?
And here's a tweet that Burkhardt says is "100% right"
@KBurkhardtSNY I believe the word you’re looking for is White Flag :( Cora couldn’t hit but Id rather have his leadership, last FMART chance
Haha yes just saw that.
By the way, Kevin Burkhardt is paid actual cash money to report on baseball.

How could somebody who covers baseball for a living and gets paid to do it be so stupid?
Leadership is not a tangible quality in baseball!!!!!! Statistics are tangible!!!! Unfreakingreal.

Well, even leaving that aside
What can we determine that this great leadership of Cora’s was doing for the team? The team that’s in 4th place and falling fast?
Bupkus, clearly, is what Cora has done for the team, whether you’re looking at his hitting, his fielding or his “leadership”.
I think leadership does mean something...
And that’s when good leadership actually translates into good stats. Where a veteran does pull younger guys aside and help them with approach, mechanics, advice on facing certain people. Being smiley is woefully insufficient, and I have to imagine that it’s rare to have someone who sucks as a leader.
this reminds me
I watched HBO’s Ted Williams documentary today, and they did a segment about Williams & DiMaggio, and talked about how Williams sucked in his only World Series (which was played right after he got beaned in the elbow during an exhibition game that the Sox played to keep fresh b/c the NL season went 3 weeks longer than the AL season – how crazy is that?). Anyway, the documentary presented all this mumbo-jumbo about how Williams was a great hitter, and he had great moments in the All Star Game, etc. but he didn’t make his teammates better the way DiMaggio did. Then, they didn’t have anyone refute any of this – nobody pointed out that Williams’ didn’t get to play for the Yankees with their stacked lineup and good pitching staff, or that Williams was almost literally twice as good a hitter as DiMaggio, and besides that was a far better person.
It drove me absolutely insane. For someone who retired almost 50 years before I was even born, I really hate Joe DiMaggio – everything I’ve ever heard/read about him makes him sound like a contemptible prick, yet the media’s love of him led them to antagonize first Ted Williams and later Mickey Mantle to the point that their legacies suffer in comparison, despite the fact that both were far better baseball players (not that DiMaggio wasn’t great, but overrated he always has been.)
2009 Did Not Happen
I met Joe DiMaggio once when I was a kid...
He was very nice. Then again he was sitting next to Gary Carter so the niceness may have spread from Gary over him. Ted Williams was a very weird guy. Also, in support of your point, Ted lost a good chunk of his prime to the military.
If this is Martinez's "last chance"
it’s only because the Mets are once again putting him in the best possible position to fail. I’m going to guess his MLEs for his time this year in Buffalo have his OBP under .300.
What do the Mets expect, really?
Really
They’ve only put him in opportunities to fail since they signed him. I mean just imagine if he hadn’t been rushed and was able to cultivate some skills in Rookie ball and Low A. Instead, he was forced to sink or swim in AA and AAA. Tony Bernazard truly is the gift that keeps on giving.

i wish KB never discovered Twitter.
his inane reporting in small doses was endearing… his constant opinion is much less so
Hey, wait! I'm having one of those things. You know? A headache with pictures?
really? I'd much rather he only tweeted
That is, I’d much prefer him to be a full-time Tweetporter rather than breaking into the middle of every game-in-progress for a completely irrelevant interview and/or diatribe.
Now that I write this, though, it occurs to me to wonder whether this dystopian future-of-journalism nightmare has actually taken place somewhere. I wonder whether there’s somebody out there getting paid just to tweet yet?
I dunno, i enjoyed it when he made tacos

Sometime he has really good reports
like last year he did a thing on the different types of spikes/cleats guys wore. That was cool. It’s when he puts his own opinion into things that he shows his idiocy.
Save Jenrry Mejia!
This is ridiculous
I want to lose now AND 3 years from now!
Gas prices today are a lot like a pitcher's ERA. Anything under 3 is amazing, under 4 is pretty good and anything 5 and up is something you want to avoid.
I want Kevin Burkhardt off tv now, not three years from now
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but Jerry abuses the privilege.
Gee, Kevin's stance on these issues seems to encompass a large variety of topics.
Seems like a wide stance to me…boom!
John Olerud, Hall of Famer. Got a nice ring to it.
kevins stance
is a lineup of:
jose, castillo, wright, bay, failcore, cora (1B), barajas (dl’ed or no), pagan, pitcher
is pure win, except jose wright and pagan
I like Ike, I hate Jerry
Smithtown's Own was a grissiony veteran
so yes.

guys i've figured it out
KB gets more air time as the Mets play worse. He wants guys like Cora because he knows it means the Mets lose more and he gets more air time.
Hey, wait! I'm having one of those things. You know? A headache with pictures?
