Brilliant
There is no hope.... there is no future....there is only GRISSIONZ
The 2010 Mets- Hey, we may suck, but what did you expect?
So. Much. Win.
I’ve never seen this much win. Nice job.
The one and only mistermet on teh Interwebz!
Awesome
but I’m not exactly sure as to the reason this exists.
John Olerud, Hall of Famer. Got a nice ring to it.
This reminds me (and apologies for threadjacking)
if I have time this summer to catch up on only one show that I’ve never watched, and my choices (well, preferences) are Deadwood, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad, which show should I catch up on?
I pose this to the community b/c it was the constant Wire talk that here that made up my mind to just sit down and watch the first season over Thanksgiving, and that was pretty much the best decision ever.
2009 Did Not Happen
Having seen Breaking Bad and Deadwood
I’ll say Breaking Bad only because it will be back. Deadwood is done, so there’s no difference watching it now or next year. Breaking Bad is great, and the opening scene is one of the best in any show I’ve scene, so you’ll be hooked right away.
Breaking Bad is actually the show that I most want to watch
but I actually like the fact that Deadwood is completely done – I can just watch the whole series in one sitting and be done with it. I loved the fact that when I was done with the Wire, I didn’t have to wait a few months for a new season and then watch it one week at a time.
2009 Did Not Happen
I get that. It was easier for me cause last March, AMC showed the entire series for about two week
at 3-6 in the morning leading up to the 3 season’s premiere. I just recorded them all and when I was done, season three began. It’s definitely a show people should watch. Great story, Cranston and Paul are brilliant in the leads, and it can be pretty funny in some inappropriate times.
And just one more thing
I can relate with how it’s nice to watch something knowing it’s complete, I did that last year with Battlestar Galactica (something else that is excellent and worth watching every second of), so I know where you’re coming from. But I watched the entire Deadwood series back in January-February, and it’s a different feeling because unlike BSG and The Wire which ended, Deadwood never did, it just stopped. There isn’t really any closure and I was just pissed off when I saw the last episode knowing I’d never see an ending to a fantastic series. Just something to think about.
ah, didn't realize that about Deadwood
That’s annoying. Funny you should mention BSG – I started watching it about two years ago, got through the second season, and then got busy with school for a while and had to put it on hold, and just never picked it back up. I ended up going to blockbuster the other day to get Breaking Bad, but it was rented out, and BSG was right next to it, and I was like “hmm…why don’t I finish watching this.” I’ve plowed through 3 discs in 3 days since, probably gonna finish the series by next week.

Deadwood
When the show was canceled, HBO said that there were plans to make to 2-hour movies in order to wrap up the show. Of course, that very quickly went by the wayside.

Deadwood's my favorite.
The Wild West, despite being overdone several decades ago, is now ripe for movies and television, and Deadwood was the best example of that…only, of course, if you disqualify Wild Wild West.

Good one.
I’m both a huge Russell Crowe fan and a huge Christian Bale fan.

I would also recommend Paradise Falls and The Proposition.

Hung....
If you have HBO, it’s great. Def NSFW but/….
Go with Breaking Bad
I like Evan’s logic as well. Though they recently announced that they won’t be back with new episodes until next July, so you have plenty of time to catch up on it.
Hung is excellent too, as Mookie points out. Plus, there have only been (as of yesterday) 16 half-hour episodes, so you could knock that out in a weekend if you were so inclined.
thanks
I tried watching Hung a few months ago, but wasn’t a big fan. I ended up going with Battlestar Galactica (b/c Breaking Bad was already rented out, that’s still next on my list), and then I discovered Arrested Development is on Netflix “watch instantly.” So I basically spent the weekend watching both, and both are absolutely fantastic.

AD is pretty much the pinnacle of television comedy.
John Olerud, Hall of Famer. Got a nice ring to it.
Yeah
It’s pretty much Arrested Development, Seinfeld and 90s Simpsons. It doesn’t really matter which order you put them in.
and im just going to keep posting mr show clips
in every other comment until we are all converts.
oh nice, the pre taped call in show, my fav!
HELLO HELLO MR WILPON... BUY THAT MANSION. WE DONT NEED A CONDO.
Maybe the greatest sketch ever.
Although The Audition and 24 is the Highest Number are great also.

definitely some of the highest regarded sketches
and for good friggin reason as they are brilliant. for the more low brow variety but none less brilliant, don’t forget globo-chem and pit-pat. god damn i love that magical pan-sexual non-threatening spokes-thing.
HELLO HELLO MR WILPON... BUY THAT MANSION. WE DONT NEED A CONDO.
I swear we've done this before
going back and forth with Mr. Show videos. Ah well, it never gets old. Even lower-brow, yet never not funny, is The Story of Everest. Nobody comedy shouts quite like Bob Odenkirk.

HOW COULD YOU THINK THIS WAS A STOOL!?!
HELLO HELLO MR WILPON... BUY THAT MANSION. WE DONT NEED A CONDO.
Deadwood
it is the best thing ever made. especially if you love filthy cowboys cursing in iambic pentameter.
breaking bad is the best show still being made, so i’d put the next. you also have like over a year before we see any new eps so you have some time.
and mad men is great but in my book, a smidge below 2 of the greatest shows ever made. and excellent choice with BSG, thats also one of the greatest shows ever. and caprica isnt that bad (imho).
either way, you cant go wrong with any of those guys.
i’ve actually got a similar question, which to start watching Sons of Anarchy or Justified. I hear SoA is better but i do love Timothy Olyphant as much as a dude possibly can.
HELLO HELLO MR WILPON... BUY THAT MANSION. WE DONT NEED A CONDO.
Never saw SoA, but Justified is excellent, and Olyphant is superb in it.
The problem with it, much like Fringe (which really pissed me off this year), is that there are too many throw away episodes. When Justified focuses on the overarching story it’s one of the best show on TV, but there’s just not much to care about in like 5 or 6 of the 13 episodes.
SoA is definitely worth watching, too
If you like the first season at all, you’ll love the second one. It definitely gets much better in season 2.

I'm sure it's great
But the last thing I need right now is to watch more TV. I need to quit my job, take a few semesters off, not follow the Mets, and just watch every movie/tv show I never had a chance to see, read all the books I want to, and play the games I’ve been to busy to play (seriously, I still haven’t played Red Dead Redemption or Mass Effect 2 and I got them both when they came out!)
You STILL haven't played Mass Effect 2?
get on that shiz
John Olerud, Hall of Famer. Got a nice ring to it.
I haven't, either

I just vaguely remember Evan saying something about how he was looking forward to playing it and such like, a month after it came out

nice
we’ve moved to animation now. the bar has been raised.
Hey, wait! I'm having one of those things. You know? A headache with pictures?

This is great....
Especially the Draper/other people with fake names connection…
Research and Production notes:
1) Font: Verdana. I tried to use MS Sans Sarif to keep it “original”, but it didn’t fit correctly.
Until the show ends, that is. When the last frame flickers off the screen and the credits start to roll, careful observers—okay, just the font freaks—will notice a curious thing: The end credits are set not in the iconic sans serif used in the opening-credits sequence, and not in, say, Helvetica, which was designed in 1957 and became popular soon thereafter, but in Arial,Mad Men Gets All the Details Right—Except One
2) In reality, considering the personality matchup, it should be:
Eric as Bertram Cooper
James as Roger Sterling
Sam as Pete Campbell
Megdal as Herman ‘Duck’ Phillips
However, I wanted a cannon-lazr show.
In lobby campaign for Chris Carter.
