Yeah but we're the mets
so it would be Beltran, Meija, Familia, F-mart and Puello for Ramsus and Jake Westbrook.
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon
It might make sense
to trade him at some point, but I’d rather keep Beltran on the team.
Is the sun going to come up tomorrow?
A ramsus beltran swap
would be a massive win for us, and make zero sense for the cards unless we were picking up like all of Beltran’s salary.
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon
Even then it makes little sense for the Cards
Reyes, Thole, Wright, Beltran, Bay, Davis, Martinez, Tejada...
by Stephen Schmidt on Sep 19, 2010 4:52 PM EDT up reply actions
yeah we'd still be winning
its just the only way it would make sense for them.
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon
I would do it
even with giving all of Beltran’s money. doubt they would.
well they might if they feel they have to move him
to keep Pujols happy
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon
I bet he will too, at least at some point of his NY stay
Reyes, Thole, Wright, Beltran, Bay, Davis, Martinez, Tejada...

Does Grienke have a no trade clause?
Because I heard him say that New York is the one place he would not want to go to. He has anxiety issues.
Gas prices today are a lot like a pitcher's ERA. Anything under 3 is amazing, under 4 is pretty good and anything 5 and up is something you want to avoid.
by Bobby Baseball on Sep 19, 2010 5:36 PM EDT up reply actions
that would actually be really smart for the Royals
pilfer the Yankees farm system for an “ace” who you know is going to have severe mental issues when he pitches in New York that will make him an ineffective pitcher and drive him out of the league eventually. Morally repugnant, but very smart baseball…
2009 Did Not Happen
But Dayton Moore is dumb, so he'd give the Yankees an anxiety discount.
Reyes, Thole, Wright, Beltran, Bay, Davis, Martinez, Tejada...

the yankees would just spend 50 million dollars
having someone cure anxiety, and then trade for all the anxiety ridden players in the league cheaply and fix them.

hooray for buy high, sell low
Hey, wait! I'm having one of those things. You know? A headache with pictures?

It’ll pay off one day!

When you qualify for welfare, perhaps...
Otherwise I wouldn’t count on it, unless you happen to be investing in credit swaps.

i've been holding onto my bp stock for months...
i think now is the time to sell!
John Olerud, Hall of Famer. Got a nice ring to it.
Bah, that's nothing.
I’ve been hoarding my Lehman stock. It’s due for a comeback, I tells yah!
May you be locked in a battle of wits against Jerry Manuel.

The Mets trade model seems to me...
To involve having good, albeit overpaid, players play for other teams while paying their salary whilst the Mets field an inferior player and pay all of his salary.
It kind of seems like the Mets are subsidizing the lead, one crappy contract dump at a time.

What good players have we subsidized?
I can’t think of one of the top of my head.
Reyes, Thole, Wright, Beltran, Bay, Davis, Martinez, Tejada...

If you look at our opening day roster...
And add Bobby Bonilla, you have your answer(s).

They were good players...
Why else would they be on our opening day starting lineup? Right? Guys? C’mon guys? I’m right right?

I love selling when value is at an all-time low!
Let’s go Mets!

What is this Fraaaoooood?
Save Jenrry Mejia!
In lobby for Josh Byrnes/Chip Hale as Mets 2011 GM/Manager.
Not so much fraud...
They bought in when prices were depressed and have been able to ride a wave. They got very, very lucky when they decided to get into real estate. Further, no one ever said that being good at one type of business means you are good at another. See Airlines, Trump.

I realize Davidoff is pulling numbers out of his butt,
but he does put the likelihood of a Beltran deal at 6 out of 10.
It wouldn’t surprise me to see the Mets dump him, pick up $10m of his salary, and simply go with a platoon in RF of guys already on the roster. Say, Duda/Evans. I think we’re making a mistake in thinking the Wilpons will pick up a solid OFer to rpelace the Belter. With the various arb raises coming up, if they want to hold payroll at this year’s level someone’s got to go. Beltran is a logical candidate. Don’t be surprised to see him on the Red Sox. A one year deal for a guy with a ton of upside is just the deal they’d make.
I would not trade him. I’d let him play out his last year and then let him go. My reasoning is:
1) I doubt the Mets can get anything valuable for him.
2) On his walk year, he might have a heck of a season
3) I’d hate to trade him to somewhere else and see him hit 40 homeruns while the Mets are still paying part of his salary.

wishful thinking
since when have the Mess traded a veteran for a young potential impact player? they will trade Carlos Beltran for Jim Edmonds!

Edmonds is a winner!
