I'm intrigued by this game
I hope Gee can keep the K/BB ratio, but lose the hits against.
Hey, wait! I'm having one of those things. You know? A headache with pictures?
with hessman in for wright
is this the worst lineup in baseball right now?
dunno, the top half isn't totally horrific
the bottom 4 are pretty awful though

this Espinosa guy looks good
just picked him up for my fantasy playoffs and giving him the start over kelly johnson.
hitting up a storm
but from a non fantasy standpoint, his defense could use work

Hey, wait! I'm having one of those things. You know? A headache with pictures?
I've been saying that since he hasn't hit breaking stuff, and that his OPS
after his lucky first 15 games has been in the low 700s each month, that the Mets shouldn’t ink him in as plan A at 1b for 2011—but he’s been on a real tear in the last two weeks.
Sometimes it might just take a while for a guy to catch his stride...
Or could it be…..the positive influence of HoJo?
Ok, now I’m just talking crazy talk.
too many big names
he’ll probably get a few votes, but i don’t think he’s got much of a shot.

NOOOOOOOOO I started college today :(
Things suck man, and it sucks to know only one month left of baseball then I’m gonna miss all of you guys too. You made this mediocre year entertaining, I remember the laughs from “TRAID TEH COUER and CORE, David Wrongz and his love of the children, Voltron, and Rey-ass” as well as the times we lost hope when Loliver came to the mound and frenchy whiffed at a ball ten feet away from the plate. I liked how you guys introduced me to office space and the unwritten rules of AA. It was my first complete year on AA and it was awesome, thank you guys and thank you AA
Glad you've enjoyed
and college is awesome, enjoy yourself there. Also remember we’re around all offseason with ridiculous MS Paints and blind speculation about next year, so come on by anytime.

its not all awesome when
you have to commute and don’t get to dorm. your missing the whole fun side of the experience. its also lame when you ex-gf was one of your closest friends and now its awkward because she dumped u. She called me “biffle” today and I had the same face I put when Ollie Perez comes to the mound, “are you serious?” :| . its hard to meet people when u don’t dorm. But at least I got a full scholarship and I don’t have to pay fifty grand a year. sighh
by HELLYEAHGARYOAK on Sep 7, 2010 7:28 PM EDT up reply actions
So you got that going for you
trust me, not paying for you Bachelor’s is better than living in some filthy dorm room.
by aparkermarshall on Sep 7, 2010 7:30 PM EDT up reply actions
Join a club or two
just try any random one you’ve ever been remotely curious about. You’ll meet a lot of people that way, plus most of the people I knew I met through classes anyway. The commuting thing makes it a bit tricky, but do you drive or take public transit? If you drive, it also means you have a car, which a lot of college freshmen don’t (at least i know thats true around here, not sure about where you are). And having a full ride is great, i’ll be paying out my ass if i ever finish grad school.

Ah, it'll turn around for you...Here are some tips.
1. Always sit next to a very pretty girl and take classes rumored to have group projects. Usually people will just pick the person they sit next to.
2. Commuting, while less than optimal, does not mean no social interaction. Do stuff on campus before heading home for the night. Or make friends with folks in the dorms for crashing opps.
4. High school girlfriends are like pets: they should be left at home when you start college. I don’t know what a biffle is but I imagine it’s a best friend for life or something like that. Awkwardness aside, I would wager that she did you a favor.
5. Find counterculture that suits your interests and doesn’t detract from grades. Embrace it. [Note: NOT emo.]
6. Take courses in things that you never would have thought of. A couple of classes in say, art history or media, will pay dividends for the rest of your adult life.
7. Start Google.
excellent advice across the board there
my other advice to Mookie would be to remember the number 3
Hey, wait! I'm having one of those things. You know? A headache with pictures?
by KeithsMoustache on Sep 7, 2010 7:37 PM EDT up reply actions
The first rule of #3...
Is that you don’t talk about #3.
Oh, on the pretty girl thing...
Do NOT hit on her. Just be friendly and available to share notes/do projects etc. They run in packs, and in an urban environment (subway being my clue) this can pay huge dividends inside school and out. With social networking nowadays you can even avoid the awkward “what’s your number” thing and friend each other.
I am just swimming in your wake...
Funniest show on tv.
May I suggest just going to a hooker
that way you get the whole sex thing out of the way.

WHAT?
NYU? Dude, you have it so made. NYU for free? For crying out loud, you should be the one giving me advice. Have you ever seen Woody Allen’s Everything You Have Ever Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask? If not, see it immediately. Hint: pay special attention to the scene where that features the inner workings of the brain on a date.

"NOOOOOOOOO I started college today :("
Without any insult meant, this is perhaps the dumbest thing I have ever read on a blog. :)
College is your time to be on AA and many, many other websites that real jobs tend to get in the way of, to live a life of excess and be basically ok the next day, and to be surrounded by 18 – 22 yo girls “finding themselves.” Where else does a full workweek consist of 16 hours, many of which are optional, and where you get to choose your job each semester? I tell teenagers to immediately mistrust anyone who says that high school is the best years of your life, but college really is.
That said, thanks. I only figured out who Gary Oak is last night so now I feel let in on the secret of your nick.

I love Nats park
Views are good, it was just a lovely sunset. Food is good (just ate a Ben’s half-smoke, nom nom nom). Lots of friendly people, lots of people employed by the Nats to make noise so there’s always singing, whistles etc.

The ’hawks are in the running for worst football team of the 2010-11 season. At least Pete Carroll realized how sucky Julius Jones was

I exaggerated, but still...
Julius Jones is sticking in Seattle, but he’s going to have to get used to being a reserve.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll announced Justin Forsett will start at running back against the 49ers on Sunday. Leon Washington, who also figures to help on returns, is probably next in line. Jones could get a handful of carries on running downs.
Without a true primary back, Carroll figures to split carries among his backs based on the matchup. That’s sure to drive fantasy owners crazy, but it’s the best way to utilize the roster that he has.

I believe he's the goal-line back
That means more TDs, so long as Seattle’s O-Line gives him enough opportunities to score
(Your ad here)
The problem, of course
is actually getting there, but I think Mike Williams (SEA) will have at least a decent rookie season. (TB’s Mike Williams has even higher expectations, so be sure to draft the right one)

As evidenced by his unexplained absence from the 86 thing in 06. They screwed him over after 86. I would bet that he bites his tongue a lot when the Mets are in town, even if he talks all the time.

He was the 86 Mets.
He was the soul of that team. Evidence: 87. The only other major loss was Orosco/McDowell, and apparently in 87 you could find a McDowells restaurant on Queens Boulevard.
He was the Jose Valentin of the 80s
Once every 3 or 4 years he had a big season and then was nothing the rest of the time.
What's the score, boys?
What did Bugs Bunny do?
What's with the Carrot League baseball today?
Orosco & McDowell were still there in 87

Classy Washington announcers
Maybe I’m being sensitive, but it seems a bit much to be outwardly laughing at a rookie pitcher on his debut, as he gives up his first hit/homerun. Taunting him and claiming he should ask for that ball too was a little excessive, imo. I suppose they’re doing Dibble proud.
Eh...
He has pitched a gem. So he gives up a homer. Rib him a little for it. He’s still a rook.

His splits (home/away):

If not for Coors Field, Todd Helton would not be a HOF candidate.
(Your ad here)
Carlos Gonzalez has 31 HRs?
I guess my grandmother IS a garbage truck after all.
Oh whoops...
I got him confused with Carlos Gomez there for a sec. See my note about about drinking. Also am being very careful to keep my beverage away from new laptop.
My laptop is barely a week old
In fact, I took a long period of time off from AA, and then only started posting again when I got it on 8/31.
Windows 7 is nice, though it will take some time getting used to. Also, MS Paint feels a bit weird on it, as well.

Macbook...
I used to be very anti Mac…But after buying one for the wife I got addicted to ease of use. Downside: no MSPaint. If anyone knows of a Mac version of MSPaint (pref free) please let me know
Bahahahahahah
I remember using this in elementary school. My bro has a spare license for Photoshop so I’ll get that soon, but for now…
Macbook manily benefits
from its OS. A study revealed that when a Macbook was fitted with a Windows 7 OS, it slowed down substantially, and performed like an average computer. This begs the question: is the Macbook really the best computer out there?
(Your ad here)
I don't care if it's the hardware or the OS...
All I know is that I can do things—like uninstall a program—with ease. Windows just sucks. How nice is it that my computer isn’t wasting bandwidth and RPMs all the damn time downloading updates.
That's true
Although when I tried a Mac once, it just seemed very alien to me. I could never get into it. The biggest downside was the knock-off quality of the Word document program.
(Your ad here)
Yeah...
Word is one of the pains in the ass. KInd of like any other MS program.
Which study is that?
And for my money, any computer without Windows is at an advantage. I suffer with MS at work, and I’m blessed with Mac at home.
It's somewhere on laptopmag.com, I think
I was researching laptops before purchasing mine (Toshiba M640), and I saw this somewhere when they were comparing boot times, amongst other things
(Your ad here)
I can't find it
What’s worse, I’m finding more comparisons using Vista as an example, instead of Windows 7, even though the Windows 7 OS is actually being reviewed.
But nevertheless, a few articles I’ve read said that Macs run well with Win7 installed, although battery life was horrendous.
(Your ad here)
i always dislike this argument
because we never bitch about pitchers getting special treatment for pitching in places like SD. Plus I think Heltons splits are a bit less pronounced than Gonzales
