I don't get why some Giants fans hate the Jets and vice versa
They almost never play each other, neither have a history of douchebagness, and both teams have equally assholey fans.
Rex Ryan is a big reason.... for never shutting the fuck up
I understand wanting to exude confidence, but he takes it to an extreme.
There is no hope.... there is no future....there is only GRISSIONZ
The 2011 Mets- Rock bottom: We haven't reached it yet
Rex is entertaining
last time I checked the NFL is still about entertainment. If you don’t like his bravado then don’t read the stuff he says, or at least just take what he says with a grain of salt.

Rex says what every coach says in the locker room
Only he does it on TV. He’s open and says what he feels, something most people want their own players to do. I know I always want David Wright to just say what’s on his mind rather than giving the right answer. And the biggest thing with Rex, and if you watched Hard Knocks you’d be able to tell, this is just who he is. He has confidence in his players, and he wants everyone to know that he thinks his guys are the best. Other than a few shots at the Pats (who are evil so who cares) he doesn’t trash talk other teams or bad mouth other players. Rex is a pretty lovable character, there’s really no reason to dislike him.
He's terrific at taking attention away from his players
It’s calculated. He’s no buffoon.

Rex is just an excuse
for those who want to hate, to hate
"I think Murdertron makes a good point though."
Along with that,
a dislike for the Patriots should unite the fanbases as well.
What's that about?

I actually have no problem with the Pats
I’ve always liked Brady (and don’t understand the hate for him, terrible hair aside), Belichick was directly involved in all 3 of our Super Bowl wins (twice on our sideline), and they’re a model franchise. I don’t find them any less likable than the Steelers or the Colts or whoever.
2009 Did Not Happen
Same here
I’m supposed to have beef with the Patriots because they’re New England, but being a Mets fan, the inherent rivalry between New England (Boston) and New York is pretty minimal. They’re a team that’s dominated for like ten years, have a really great QB, a really great coach, and a lot of the disliking on the part of Jets fans seems to be, to some degree, of the jealous variety.

yea
as a Mets/Giants fan, all my hate is reserved for Philly. I have no beef with Boston. The only Boston team that one of my teams really competes with is the Celtics, and I don’t even really hate them.

For me, it's because of Belichick.
Not so much for the cheating, but for the way he left the Jets in the lurch like he did. It’s really hard not to imagine the Jets being the dynasty if he’d stayed.

I have to disagree with this
a lot of the disliking on the part of Jets fans seems to be, to some degree, of the jealous variety
The Patriots are a division rival. Winning or no winning, I’ve always hated the Pats (as a Jets fan). Just like I hate the Dolphins. Plus there was that whole Belichick spent a day as Jets coach thing.

This
Though I do root for the Bills a little, cause I feel bad for them. Same way I don’t hate the Nats right now.
I hate Belichick
Because he went to Andover or Exeter or whichever one of those schools he went to. Oh that and people call him a genius but he’s, ya know, a football coach. I like Rex Ryan even though I’m not really a Jets fan because he’s a fat guy who says exactly what he wants and put videos of his wife’s feet on the internet and likes to have a goddam snack and curses and he’s, ya know, a football coach.
Both these men are in charge of a game.

My reason is that most Jet fans I know
just started liking the Jets now because their new and cool and shit.
This is also the same with many of the Eagles fans I know.

This.
I find Rex Ryan annoying, but I find the average Jets fan even more annoying.

You know who I blame primarily for my Jet hate, ironically enough?
Gary Cohen. In like 2009, when we were doing all kinds of sucking, I can recall no less than three instances where Gary went on like five-minute “detours” talking about the Jets, Sanchez (who they just signed), and whatever else. I’m not a Jets fan, so it was annoying, but whatever. But, then again, and again. I don’t like it when baseball gets edged out by other sports on things like national interest polls, and stuff like that. To have it edge out baseball on a friggin’ baseball broadcast? Not cool Gary, not cool. So, screw the Jets.
