One thing I think the average Met fan in general is missing is just how deep this 2011 Mets team will be. I think it's the deepest Mets team I can remember. I think all you have to do is look at what the Bison's roster is going to look like:
Assuming Harris+Hairston win the 4th and 5th OF spots, with Oconnor and Misch getting the 2 loogy spots, Hu and Emaus getting the IF spots with Murphy at 2nd, and Paulino at C, we'll probably see something like
1st. Evans
2nd. Havens/Turner
3rd. Lutz
SS. Tejada
RF. F!
CF. Capt. Kirk
LF. Duda
C. Nickeas+Chavez
SP1. Mejia
SP2. Gee
SP3. Bonser
SP4. Stinson
RP. Alvarez
RP. De La Torre
RP. Igarashi
RP. Merrit
This is a damn good AAA team with lots of upside, and every player I listed has a chance to contribute to a major league team as a 2nd division starter right now, and for some guys a lot more down the line.
I would guess that if this were the mets 2011 opening day roster, we'd be looking at about 50 wins, but these guys are all almost definitely not even going to make the Mets roster in 2011. This team is so deep that an injury to any of our guys outside of Reyes wont be crushing, and I bet at least one of these guys plays so well that it forces a callup.
Buffalo will be fun to watch next year. What do you guys think?
