Mets.com: Citi Field outfield walls
They did it. They finally did it. The Mets will move in the walls at Citi Field in 2012, and here's the pictures of what they intend to do including blue walls and an outdoor patio in front of the Mo's Zone.

seriously
I remember when those photoshops were posted here, and that’s the first thing I thought when I saw the official images. Either way, thank Dickey that they’re finally going to do this.

I like it.
I can think of one game we would have won early in the season wih these dimensions. Against the Rockies in the first game of a doubleheader, Wright hit a ball just under the Mo porch in the bottom of the ninth. If I thought hard enough I could probably come up with two or three more
"Its only a game, but it helps teach you about life"
Better
Better for sure. Left field will look tacky though if they really keep the old wall there. It looks confusing and will look weird seeing the fans sit in the tiny space between the old wall and the new one. Right field looks good. I think the blue could be a good idea too.
Big players make big plays
They can't get rid of the old wall in LF because it's structural.
Save Jenrry Mejia!
Keep Reyes, Trade Wilpon.
More home runs
From an Adam Rubin tweet:
Mets would have hit about 81 more homers over three years with these dimensions. Opponents 70. According to Sandy Alderson.
Very weird and misleading stat
Thanks Sandy and Adam

why weird and misleading?
Time to update this: 2009 Did Not Happen. Neither did 2010. Or 2011. Sports suck.
right?
it actually sounds like a pretty straightforward stat.

Surprised its not smaller
I would’ve liked to keep a big wall in left and move it in about 20 feet. I’m all for high, short walls.
I like the lower fence in LF. Because you get HR stealing catches.... kind of like this one.

Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!

Great words on the wall, too. Perfect photo.

Yeah
I really think it cuts both ways. The part was nuetral to begin with. I hope our pitching doesn’t get torched.

closer fences don't necessarily mean worse pitching
it might yield more homers, but should also give up less doubles and triples. For an outfield which will probably include Jason Bay and Lucas Duda, that’s not a bad thing

I like 8' walls
I like the new seats and the Mo Zone not being the Mo Zone anymore, but I liked the OF dimensions the way they were.

Home run lines
Rubin or someone had a tweet about how Sandy was asked if he thinks that relying on the old walls in the corners, but putting in a painted home run line at 8 feet, could lead to homer controversies in places where they just use the line rather than a new wall. Sandy said no. I’m curious to see what the corners ultimately look like – although this wasn’t explicitly mentioned, I could see them perhaps putting in at least some 8 foot high padding or something so there’s a physical break between the old and new walls – otherwise, if all there is is a painted line, making some of those calls could be really tough for umpires, leading to a bunch of potential replays.

I was fine with they way it was more or less
but this looks nice. It makes the quirks more “fan friendly”. Looks like they took a cue from the Green Monster seats for the LF “porch”.

Man, Jeff couldn't be anything but spineless if his life depended on it
From the Times’ story:
“Wilpon also maintained that the original impetus to design such a big playing field came from the previous Mets regime headed by Omar Minaya”
As if, Jeff.
When in doubt,
blame the previous regime.

Sounds great
Now if they could only do something about that garish giant billboard full of ads. I can’t be the only one that thinks it looks tacky and horrible and would be much better served if the ads were sprinkled throughout the park.
Why don't we wait until we have ownership with liquidity before we try to get rid of a revenue stream?

I'll be in the minority here
But I’m not a huge fan of some of this. Quite honestly, I would have been perfectly satisfied if only the Mo’s Zone was altered. But yeah, I guess the LF wall is fine too. Most disappointed with the removal of the 415 power alley…I liked that a lot.

Agree
Liked the big field. But the Mets always find a way to make themselves pedestrian. Except when it comes to losing.
Tavares is Tavares.
I Keith it. I Keith it a lot.

I'm torn
The Mo’s Zone is not altered quite as much as I had hoped (total elimination, bigger patio) but i’ll take what I can get. I appreciate getting rid of the great wall of flushing (sort of) and I love bringing back the blue walls. The Home Run dimensions…I guess I’m reserving judgment. I suspect that for some (Duda, Davis) it wont really matter

LOVE IT
I am in total shock. These are pretty much the changes that I wanted to the stadium. The Mets are actually doing something that I agreed with, should I be scared?
yes!!
my biggest worry was that they’d overdo it, especially when there was that rumor of dead center being less than 400 ft. The new dimensions/heights/colors are perfect.
