Two interesting things on Ken Davidoffs twitter
"Ken Davidoff of New York Newsday reports that the Mets are interested in free agent right-hander Jason Marquis.
Davidoff writes that the Mets view him as a replacement for Chris Capuano, who is aiming for a multi-year contract this winter. Marquis, 33, posted a 4.43 ERA over 23 starts this season between the Nationals and Diamondbacks before he suffered a fractured right fibula in mid-August. It could be a good fit, as the Staten Island native will likely look for a one-year deal in hopes of reestablishing his value and hitting the free agent market again next offseason.""Omar Minaya could join a team by the #MLB winter meetings next month. #Mets would be relieved of $ from Minaya's new salary."
So Jason Marquis is Capuano 2.0 and Omarwatch 2011 is on

Not a big Marquis fan, but he's an upgrade over Gee
Heyman says that the Mets will tender Pelfrey and Pagan contracts which is no surprise.
Marquis posted a 4.03 xFIP in 2011 and unlike Pelfrey, he actually gets GBs
I’d be fine with him if cheap
There is no hope.... there is no future....there is only GRISSIONZ
The 2011 Mets- Rock bottom: We haven't reached it yet
Considering 2012 is just going to be another gap year
There’s nothing wrong with throwing another 1 year contract out at Marquis

I'm not a Marquis fan but
if he’s cheap, I guess he’s not an awful pickup.

The same
If it’s a one-year deal, and he isn’t expensive- both should fit, since he’s coming off of injury, and just isn’t a very good pitcher- no harm, no foul. If things break right, he could be traded to a contender later on in the season for a lower-end prospect or two.

They renamed this award the GIBBY award (Greatness in Baseball Yearly award)
Why, I ask? The TWIB/TYIB name is a classic and distinctive one – GIBBY sounds dumb in comparison (and it suggests an absence of dubious honors)
I suppose the awards show is now referred to as “The GIBBYs”. It’s just lame. It would make a bad marketing tactic, seemingly trying to derive something from “The Emmys”.
.
Makes me think of Kirk Gibson, and I really don't like Kirk Gibson
