Interesting proposal from Purple Row
Basically, we trade Bay to Colorado, given that we pay 5mm of his contract per year, in return for Huston Street, Alex White and Christian Friedrich.
I couldn't imagine anyone wanting being seriously interested in Bay, considering his struggles, but these Rockies fans seemed to embrace a bounceback in Denver's thin air. Street posted great peripherals with the Rockies, and would be our closer. I'd be happy with just Friedman or White with Street, but if the Rockies fans think this way, maybe Sandy could encourage O'Dowd to do the same.
What do you guys think?

I'd do it in a heartbeat
Didn’t know much about either White nor Friedrich, but they seem like former top pitching prospects who have fallen on hard times, but are still young.
Street is making $7.5 million next year, and then has a player option for $9 million the year after, but we can buyout of that w/ $0.5m according to Cot’s. So his contract isn’t really an issue.
I'd be all over that in a second
Street, he’s owed $7.5 million dollars next season, and based on his performance the past couple of years, probably will be a slight overpay, in terms of his WAR. He also has a $9 million dollar club option that I wouldn’t want exercised. Odds are, if he does decently in 2012, he’d still qualify for Type A free agency, which means we’d get that compensation pick (if those rules still exist in 2013).
The other two guys, I don’t know anything about them, but they look intriguing. White, he was ranked a B+ prospect by Sickels last year, and put up some very nice numbers in AA and AAA before being roughed up in the Major Leagues. We’re not desperate for any arms to throw innings like the Rockies were, so down to AAA to work on stuff he can go. Friedrich, he was good in the lower Minors, but hit a bump at AA two years in a row now. No reason to think he can’t potentially work out the kinks, though.
So, I’d gladly do this deal.

Umm...where do I sign?
To deal Bay and actually get in return a good reliever, a cheap, potential mid-rotation starter and a lottery ticket former 1st round pick?
Hell yeah!

I'd do this deal just with Street.
Throw in White who was good before hurting himself and some other guy who I don’t even know is, and it’s a steal.
Save Jenrry Mejia!
Holy crap what Rockie fan would suggest that?
Is this a Jim Tracy joke or did everyone forget again that they have Seth Smith…? Who?

Rockies fans love explosive offenses, remember the Blake Street Bombers?
They hope Bay can rebound in Colorado, which, given his hot September isn’t entirely out of the realm of possibility. He was a great hitter before he came to the Mets, and hell, I wouldn’t mind seeing him pound bombs at Coors while the Rox make a push for Rocktober.

You also have to remember how awesomely deep the Rockie organization is
They’re at the point where they can gamble on bounce back seasons, with prospects being the chips.
Mets, Jets, Islanders, Knicks.

Just because they have depth doesn't mean they should make dumb trades.
They should just give Scott Hairston 2 million to slug .500 for them and keep the prospects and the money. Maybe take a gamble on CJ Wilson, who is a much safer gamble than Jason Bay.

I can't see the Rockies going after any more overpriced pitchers
And a trade like this would be highly, highly unlikely, I know. It just gave us hope that Bay’s albatross was not as unmovable as we thought.

Shhhh!
Don’t give them ideas.

Jason Bay for living matter of some sort?
pull the trigger Mr. Alderson! No way Colorado would ever do that though.

So you wouldn't do the trade for a pack of big league chew
and a bag of manure?

If something like this really happened
we could sign Beltran! How awesome would that be?

I'd do that deal for just Huston Street
Throw in actual prospects and I’d be tripping over everything running to the fax machine to finalize this
