Everything 'Clicked' When Andres Torres Confronted ADHD - Baseball Nation
He began that year hitless in his first 30 at-bats and accepted that something would have to change. At the urging of Gene Roof, a minor league coordinator, Torres agreed to confront the diagnosis he had tried to ignore. Torres learned he had A.D.H.D. in 2002, but he used his prescribed medication for just a few days.

A CF with ADHD
you can’t make this shit up.
Oh wait……yes we can…..

One day, this team is going to kill me.
if I don't take my Concerta before a meeting i might as well have stayed home.
Marvelous stuff. Thank Dickey for modern pharmaceuticals!

if I don't take my adderral I'm libel to spend 8 straight hours staring at my dorm ceiling contemplating
the philosophical ramifications of space travel.
one does not simply walk into mordor...unless winter is coming
I spent 8 hours on Thursday perfecting my crumpled paper basketball shot. My paper for school was 3 pages long. Forget the fact that I cant concentrate enough to edit my work.
One little pill, and 2 tiny ones, and 18 pages later my paper gets me an A.
Why do i have to do it the hard way?

How long have you been on it?
but more importantly, how do you plan on coping after your prescribing MD ceases the scripts when your out of school? Forgive me if I’m being intrusive but I’m very curious.

If someone doesn't think of the philosphical ramifications now
How are we gonna be prepared when Mass Effect becomes reality?
this, some nerds prepare for the zombie apocolypse
I spend all my spare (and non spare) time preparing for every possible space travel contingency. Including coming up with my own tests for discovering if someone’s a cylon. When element zero is discovered all my wasted time will suddenly propel me to the upper echelons of society.
Or I’ll just be the most informed person living in my parents basement.

I spend most of my time thinking how I'd handle living in a medieval fantasy world
Certainly not the most likely of scenarios, but you never know what can happen.
Also, Gaius came up with a way to detect who is and isn't a cylon
They just never mentioned it after that episode in the first season
oh I know, but Gaius's way was overly complicated
mine is simple “The Michael Jackson test” if they can listen to a Michael Jackson song without having to fight the urge to dance then they get a bullet to the head and/or ejected from the ship no questions asked.

Well, that hurts.
Some of us don’t like to dance, or Michael Jackson music.

actually the symptons of certain types of adhd, particularly sluggish cognitive tempo
which is the type of adhd I have, is pretty similar to being permanently high (on weed).

This will be an interesting experiment
Is a CF with ADHD better than a CF with colitis?
Ralph Kiner: You've gotta change the script, I don't like the script.
Gary Cohen: What's wrong with the script?
Ralph Kiner: Well the script should be the Mets win every day.
ADHD is easily treatible. Colitis, i believe, is not.

Depends on the severity.

Gary Cohen: What's wrong with the script?
Ralph Kiner: Well the script should be the Mets win every day.
mild add is easily treatable, severe adhd is now
that being said I’d definitely say Colitis is in a different category.

I'm generally suspicious of people who say ADHD medicine "changed their lives" or suddenly made them super productive
most people I know who actually have ADHD need the medicine just to be productive members of society. It doesn’t give them super focus. The super focus is usually experienced by people who don’t have ADHD. That’s not to say Torres is one of those people just that I’m generally suspicious.

needs to quit playing doctor shut the fuck up.

Is he wrong?
I guess all my friends must get their adderall illegally from others with ADHD.

Yeah, I understand...
…that’s there’s something of an epidemic of students at high-end colleges who get unwarranted Adderrall prescriptions to help them cram after they’ve been out partying too long.
high end colleges?
Maybe if you’re talking about 2001. It’s in every college and high schools now. And soccer moms.

no hes completely right
there’s an actual shortage of adderral in the country now because of how quickly doctors just hand out prescriptions.

I think he was talking about the "so-called" part.
Seems to imply that it’s made up or simply a matter of will.

I don’t question the validity or lack there of nor the morals involved in the process. But coming off like that in questioning the genuine medical diagnosis of the disorder is unacceptable.

The shortage was due
To the federal regulation of the quantity allotments of the raw materials and not a spike in doctors collectively brain farting on their ethics backgrounds.

I believe there is some doubt
about whether material restrictions by DEA contributed to the shortage, although I’m sure there are certain industry and ideological groups who might find common cause in #blamingregulation. Demand is certainly a factor in the equation. Careful, NO POLITICS!

Demand fluctuations erring on the side
of the copious argument is one thing but inadequate planning was more likely the cause of the logistical blip.

it was believed that ADHD (or whatever it was called then) was something that only effected children, and was something that was outgrown. Today it is known that it can effect people throughout their lives.
As someone with ADHD, I rely on Focalin and Strattera. Some adults with ADHD rely on Adderall. The bottom line is that any medication that is effective treating children for ADHD is likely to be effective with adults, but with higher doses needed.

In totally unrelated news I've been going through my old posts with fb timeline and found this Jason Bay related gem (Dec 9th)
is it bad to hope a player suffers some sort of awful accident that causes them to fail a physical and negate their contract?
one does not simply walk into mordor...unless winter is coming
But isn't ADD/ADHD dosage
of Adderall much lower than the “greenie” dosage? From what I understand, in the 1960s (when greenie use was rampant in MLB), the “diet pill” dosage of Dexedrine was 75 mg. I take FIVE mg at a time. I cannot even imagine taking fifteen times that much in one dosage (or even spread out over one day), my head would explode.
