AA2OP: How to Enjoy the Next Two Years
This won't merit enough words to be a FanPost, but I do want to generate some discussion. The Reyes ordeal has shown just how brutally bleak the Mets' financial outlook truly is. Until the Bay and Santana contracts are off the books and David Wright is dealt with one way or another, the Mets have zero financial flexibility and therefore no chance to compete in 2012 or 2013. Let's assume for the purposes of this discussion that the Bay/Santana contracts are untradeable. I want to bring in players who are fun, players I can rally around that are either former Mets, past their prime, what have you. Since we can't win, we should still be able to have some fun. What players do you want the Mets to bring in that would make the team, in Sandy's words, "fun to watch?" Endy Chavez is my first thought...any others come to mind?

This
I am going to watch the games on SNY. Beyond that, any Wilpon revenue stream is being boycotted.

I might unsubscribe from SNY if there aren't any cancellation fees and I can just lose the one channel.

Subsribing to SNY is giving the Wilpons my money.
Giving the Wilpons more money means that they will stay around longer.
The Wilpons staying around longer means that they can continue to run the franchise into the ground longer.

Sign Aaron Heilman, Carlos Delgado, and Billy Wagner
Jose Valentin too
I bet Billy Wagner would still be pretty awesome.

If you need to dig around to find reasons to enjoy the season
while resigning yourself to futility before the first pitch is thrown, I’m not sure you’re in the right hobby.
"Amazing strength, amazing power - he can grind the dust out of the bat. He will be great, super even wonderful. Now, if he can only learn to catch a fly ball."

How could you not resign yourself to futility with this team?
If EVERYTHING goes right for the Mets, they still probably wouldn’t make the playoffs. I mean, come on.
"F***ing shocker." -Billy Wagner
Because they haven't started the season yet
Things happen.

Were we both watching the same baseball season this year? They certainly do.

Wow, well played there

Clone R.A. Dickey.
Ralph Kiner: You've gotta change the script, I don't like the script.
Gary Cohen: What's wrong with the script?
Ralph Kiner: Well the script should be the Mets win every day.

That was part of my AAOP last year
The idea was not well received.

Just assign the Dickey we already have to the closer roll
Except for the games that he starts, of course. And he should start every fourth game.

while it sucks, it is not the end of the world
I mean I will still cheer just as hard for the Mets. I will not wish bad luck on Reyes but I can not cheer for the Fish either.
The state of sports is that very few players stay with a franchise. I truly hope to see Wright here forever, but realize that may not be either. regardless I will cheer for the Mets and whoever comes to the team
Any task BIG or small, Do it well or not at all
