I would say it is closer to a FanComment, than anything else.
Yogi on the 1969 NY Mets....." overwhelming underdogs "
could live as a chat fanshot i suppose
in response to the question at hand. If we were to trade Wright (which would pretty much ensure ticket sales next year were horrendous) I’d want a high end catching or shortstop prospect in the mix for sure. I’ve previously proposed something like Grandal and another B or better prospect from the Reds. I’d prefer we just kept him though. I dont think my heart could take losing JOse and Dubs in one offseason
Hey, wait! I'm having one of those things. You know? A headache with pictures?

Especially because there was just one of these the other day.

Trading Wright after letting Reyes walk is a PR nightmare
Although the Wilpons can’t afford his contract. Look for them to move him at the July deadline. The turnover on this team is ridiculous. Will we ever have a superstar fan favorite start and finish his career with the Mets? Hopefully Nimmo can be that guy. Hope he’s ready for 2013-14
What
you don’t count Bruce Boisclair?
Time to update this: 2009 Did Not Happen. Neither did 2010. Or 2011. Sports suck.
You really don't know that the Wilpons can't afford his contract

Well....
We wont know if they can afford a NEW contract for Dubs, even though Bay and Santana come off the books at the same time…

I should rephrase
If the Wilpons still own the team when its time to re-up Dubs, we wont know if they’ll want to afford his next contract. We are going to have to assume if Wright gets back close to the elite player he was that he going to want a 6/120 contract at the least.

A 6/120 contract might make sense
It depends. If you believe that marginal input will produce an output of greater value, then the contract makes sense. This should be completely independent of the Mets financial state because such a contract would improve that state.

PR nightmare would be defined
by what we get in return vs. the year Wright is having.
One day, this team is going to kill me.
Murphy is a good player, nice kid
Not a superstar
I'm sticking to what my gut says
And that is that Wright will finish his career as a New York Met. PIITB
SELL THE METS
RETURNS
The players traded for Wright would have to be really good. Turner from Detriot & Miller from St. Louis come to mind (not even up- part of a package in return). Murphy is no superstar, but he is supposed to be better at 3B than 2B & is a decent alternative. Beats dealing for Mark Reynolds.
Keep Wright, Trade Murphy
and this should be a FanShot.

TRAID
The Mets should give Dubs whatever he wants on a golden platter.
The man played for them with a broken back for gods sake.

Logic Your Sense Makes None.
I always hate this argument
If said player plays with an injury and plays poorly, does that not HURT the team?
Only if he's worse than whatever the alternative is

continued back pain?
Did I not read that Wright says he still has a stiff/sore back and needs to stretch just getting out of bed? That sounds suspiciously like he’s bordering on becoming old before his time.
I hate to say it because he’s been one of my favorite all-time Mets, but if we could get Turner or Miller and a package of 2-3 other prospects, it might make sense to break my heart and send DW on his way. Murphy seems like a much better 3B than 2B and more likely to stay healthy there. Pick up Orlando Cabrera to play 2B until Flores is ready.
