The Mets released Castillo and eat his $6 million, then the Phillies sign him to the MLB minimum, so does he get that plus the 6mil, or do the Mets pay (6mil - 414,500)? Then, if Castillo doesn't make the Phillies and gets released, only to be picked up by say the Padres (interest in Luis Hernandez?) what happens salary-wise then? Is it conceivable that a Castillo signed and released 12 times would have little cost to the Mets or am I just pipe dreaming?
