Mets ST Farm Report 3/25
After an 0 and 5 start the Herd won their second straight last night, topping the Memphis Redbirds 2-1. OF Jason Pridie tied things up with an RBI double and then scored the game-winning run on a single by OF Fernando Martinez. For both players, the run-scoring hits came in their only at-bat of the game.
Double-A Binghamton snapped a three-game skid by defeating the Springfield Cardinals 6-4 on Thursday. LHP Mark Cohoon started for the B-Mets and went four innings, allowing two runs. LHP Robert Carson gave up an unearned run over four innings of relief work. RHP Edgar Ramirez finished things up by allowing a run in the ninth.
Quad Cities defeated Lo-A Savannah by the score of 7-5 yesterday. RHP Gonzalez Germen made the start and in three innings, he gave up two runs on three hits and a walk, while recording one strikeout. RHP Johnathan Kountis pitched the next three, allowing three runs on four hits. At the dish, OF Cody Holiday and C Albert Cordero were both 1-for-3 with a homer.
Also worth noting, the Mets cut nine minor leaguers yesterday: right-handers Wes Wrenn, Samuel Taveras, Daniel Carela and John Holdzkom, third baseman James Schroeder, and outfielders Joey August, Will Cherry, R.J. Harris and Nick Santomauro.
Holdzkom was an '06 4th rounder who still throws really hard but just can't stay healthy. Santomauro is a Caldwell, NJ-native who was an intriguing tenth rounder out of Dartmouth but fell flat as a pro. August's cousin is a member of this community and once posted an interview with him.

*plays taps for the cut minor leaguers*
I wonder what happened to Santomauro. He was decent for the Cyclones and then impossibly bad with Savannah.
