Mets ST Farm Report 3/28
The Bisons notched their third victory of the spring with a 13-3 whitewashing on the Memphis Redbirds yesterday. RHP Dillon Gee earned the 'W' with five shutout innings including five K's. SS Ruben Tejada went 1-for-3 with a big bases-loaded triple. 3B Zach Lutz was 2-for-4 with his third bomb of the spring while IF Justin Turner and OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis both went 2-for-4.
Savannah split their weekend: First they managed an 11-7 victory over Greensboro on Saturday. Starter RHP Yohan Almonte was solid but the offense was the story in this one, led by OF Javier Rodriguez' 3-for-3 effort. IF Wilfredo Tovar, DH Robbie Shields and OF Cody Holliday all had two hits.
Sunday saw the Gnats drop a 3-2 affair with Quad Cities. RHP Erik Goeddel got the start, yielding two runs on three hits in four innings with a walk and four strikeouts. LHP Adam Kolarek followed with a couple innings of relief. Offensively, SS Robbie Shields again had multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Fellow third rounder C Blake Forsythe was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Also, RHP Matt Harvey reportedly threw in a Hi-A game on Saturday -- full stats not available -- and was dominant, allowing no runs and a single hit in four innings with four K's and a walk all while regularly hitting 95 mph.
