Greg Maddux faced 20,421 batters in his career. Just 310 of them saw a 3-0 count. That's roughly one every three starts."
Oliver Perez has faced 4,941 batters in career. Yet only 5,298 batters have seen a 3-0 count. That's more 3-0 counts than batters faced. #insane
Actually it's only 137. Still, that's 2.8% of batters faced to Maddux's 1.5%. Maddux=Good, Oliver Perez=LOL

wow, ignoring the ollie portion of that
thats pretty impressive give how long Maddux pitched to only see ~300 3-0 counts. It’d be interesting to see where some of the other noteworthy pitchers fall on this list.
Hey, wait! I'm having one of those things. You know? A headache with pictures?
You know the sad part is
I was way too willing to get him out of the league. Its sad he pitched for the Braves, because I feel like I would have enjoyed him more if he were picthing elsewhere.
Exactly
It’s so much easier to look back and marvel at the insane things that he did over the course of his career when he isn’t systemically ripping my team apart, and having a direct negative impact on the chances my team plays meaningful playoff baseball.

How much of that...
is due to the ridiculously wide strike zone the mid-’90s Braves got, I wonder.

does that include IBB?
just saying. I am not sure how many IBB he had inhis career, but everyone, well most would have to get a 3-0 count. once in awhile some throws to a guy and then decidest IBB
Any task BIG or small, Do it well or not at all
just looked it up, he had 177 IBB inhis career

yeah but do we know if they are including those at bats
or how many of those IBB came after a couple pitches and maybe a strike were thrown before Cox told Maddux to just give a free pass

Ollie vs Maddux
some of the numbers
Ollie 628 BB in 111.2 IP/Greg 999BB/ 5008.1IP
Ollie had under 50 BB twice, once his rookie season in 90 IP, and last year 42BB/46IP
Greg had under 50 BB from 1994 until he retired in 2008. his most 45BB/251IP
Ollie career WHIP 1.48 Greg 1.14
but but but
Ollie career BAA .245 and Maddux had a horrible .250
that is why ollie deserves to be in the HOF
Any task BIG or small, Do it well or not at all
oops...1111.2 IP for Ollie

The mistake was probably more realistic.

What does this mean?
I know its good, but do we have context? I imagine control pitchers are around there too… Also, how many of those 3 ball counts were en route to an IBB?
This stat looks cool, but how does it compare to Lee? Halladay?
