With today's victory against the Diamondbacks, the Mets have a 4 game winning streak. David Wright busted out of his slump. Carlos Beltran had another good game at the plate to boost his average up to .300. Ike Davis has been playing well lately, as has Daniel Murphy. We know how good Jose Reyes can be, and the same goes for Jason Bay. Our starting lineups is a legitimate threat, especially once Angel Pagan comes back and he starts producing like he did last year.
The pitching for the Mets started out this year poorly, but it has gotten better in recent games. Niese has gotten settled, Pelfrey had a great start last time out, as did Capuano, and Chris Young has been a stud in his two performances. Dillon Gee has also proven to be a reliable big league capable starter for us, and looking down the stretch, we can only expect better performances from R.A. Dickey and hopefully Johan Santana in the second half.
Even the bullpen has done a good job lately. Pedro Beato has been amazing. Hate the vest or not, Francisco Rodriguez has done a solid job this year. Buchholz has done a great job as well for the Mets. Even Jason Isringhausen has provided solid relief this year.
Can this level of play be expected to continue this year for the Mets?
Can David Wright post a .300/30/100 line?
Can Jose Reyes provide 40 or more steals?
Can Carlos Beltran and Jason Bay stay healthy and give the Mets clutch hitting?
Can Ike Davis build on his 2010 performance and become a real threatening lefty bat in the NL East?
Can Daniel Murphy keep hitting to lock down the second base job?
Can the pitching staff keep pitching well?
Can the Mets keep hitting home runs and prove that Citi Field isn't such an obstacle?
Can the Mets make the playoffs this year?
