Here's a graph I made showing how many runs above average Jason Bay is when he puts a particular pitch type in play (all data comes from FanGraphs.) As you can see, Bay has stayed pretty consistent through his whole career on every pitch but his success on the fastball has been awful in recent years and has trended downward since 2008. Not sure what any of this means going forward but I just thought it was interesting that he seems to have completely lost his ability to hit fastballs since joining the Mets. (Note: Obviously SSS for 2011 data) Embiggen
