The Greatest Bat-Flip Ever?
On Friday, Matthew Callan revisited perhaps the greatest regular season Mets-Yankees game ever. What Matthew missed, but Matt Meyers astutely pointed out, was that Mike Piazza's nearly 500-foot home run off Ramiro Mendoza in that game carried with it an emphatic exclamation point: the most epically badass bat-flip you'll ever see.
Matthew sent me a video snippet of the bat-flip and I GIF-ed it for everyone's viewing pleasure.

I was at this game, and was too busy marvelling at the awesome trajectory of the ball as it soared past us in the left-field mezzanine
to have noticed the flip. Brilliant.
The 2011 New York Mets: Limit the Damage
Greatest bat-flip i ever saw was David Ortiz during a game between Dominican Republic and Venezuela in the 2006 world baseball classic. He’d just been dusted by a pitch and someone in the Venezuela dugout was talking trash.
Next pitch Big Papí hid the bawl wicked fah. He glowered into the dugout and pointed the bat at the ball before just dropping it, arm still outstretched.
It was bad ass.
I remember seeing that, it was sick.
How about the one when Ortiz hit a bomb and threw the bat to his right side in this weird way that made the bat spin diagonally while flipping, landing ten feet away from him. Crazy

Anyone have video of the entire home run?
Would like to see it fly out of the stadium one more time.
Also, Piazza’s bat flip is only 65 to 70% percent of what it used to be.
bout to ask this too
if its the HR im thinking of, I can see if flying over the bullpen beyond LF and way beyond the blue and white striped tent out there

He's still posting an above-average F(L)IP
and his WOW is highest among catchers.

Piazza's bat thinks it can get Carl Crawford money.
It’s had everything wrong with it. It won’t get it.

Some schmuck gave him money based off of one home run.

metsjetsknicksrangers.............can it get any worse?
You mean this one:

As Mike Scioscia’s Tragic Illness pointed out, Piazza’s flip was better but Kuo gets the positional adjustment for being a pitcher.
And if you didn’t remember, Kuo’s was the tail end of back-to-back home runs off John Maine.
Yes, that's it
that was in the middle of the Mets June swoon after being Swept by the Phils at Shea. The Mets did get revenge by taking three out of four in Philly in late June, but we all remember how that stupid season ended.
I just watched this again and, for the first time, noticed the little hop step Piazza takes after one stride
Priceless

If I could make this my profile picture on everything, I would.
In fact I would like to get a shirt with this bat-flip on it, and then wear it every day.

As if we needed one more reason he should be enshrined as a Met
