So I've been following the season when I can, but with the intertubes available only once or twice a month it's been a real scattershot affair. I remember before the season a lot of folks were predicting 80+ wins and if about 17 unlikely conditions all turned out to be true simultaneously, then 90 wins.
Yet it seems that every time I log in another of those conditions has failed, and the team is--as could reasonably be expected--doing poorly. I guess my question is: has this surprised anyone, or was the optimism expressed preseason merely optimism for its own sake? Or am I missing something, and there's reason for hope in Flushing before 2012?
