Mets Trivia Contest: Win A 1986 Mets DVD Set
The deadline for entries is 5pm EDT today.
---
Another week, another sweet giveaway at Amazin' Avenue. This time we've got 1986 Mets World Series DVD sets to give away. Three of them, to be exact, and we're giving one away each week until Father's Day. If you don't win one — or if you don't feel like waiting — you can still pick one up yourself from MLB shops.
This week's trivia contest will remain active until 5pm EDT on Thursday, 6/16, after which time we'll randomly select a winner from among the entries with the most correct answers. There are ten questions in all, and you can access the trivia form here or just fill in your answers using the embedded form in this post. All ten questions can be answered using information obtained at Baseball-Reference, so that'd be a good place to start your research.
And... go!

these would be easier with a play index subscription
but those are expensive

yeah, I got to #4, plugged everything into the B-R search tool, and it told me to pay up
Oh well. To those that have, more shall be given.

Neither Baseball Reference nor Retrosheet
have game data for pitches thrown for a great many games. Question 6 is pretty much a shot in the dark, as it stands. I’m assuming you used the play index, but no one really knows how many pitches Al Jackson threw in his 15 innings in 1962, for example. Just gotta hope I found the same resource as you did, really.
David Eckstein: so gritty they would eat him in the south for breakfast with some butter and sprinkle cheese.
Oh, I'm not denying that
And I think most of the other questions (especially since this is the third one you’ve done) are great, interesting, and not at all blatantly easy. That one just stands out. Every other question does have a concrete answer – the pitch counts of most games not played recently are just completely unknown.

I think there is a mistake
in question 2.
2. Off of whom did Jose Reyes record his first major league hit? *
(Number of games)
Number of games just doesn’t make sense there.

Eric, it might seem like a question you probably answered a year ago or so, but whatever happened to the daily swag contest?
It was too much effort to keep updated.
It required that we come up with new questions every day, post them before the game, update them after the game, and so forth.
Completely understand…it was fun though and took into account gamescore
