The Kansas City Jeff Francoeur Blues
I just stumbled on this perversely hilarious story on the Royals SB Nation blog, Royals Review. Don't worry: I'm familiar with the context, and I can assure you that the "Great leadership" line is sarcastic. Full text of the post:
Remember When Jeff Francoeur Was Walking?
For a time, Jeff Francoeur was taking his walks. Of course, for a time he was also hitting for power and seemingly throwing someone out on the bases nightly. I can remember, not too long ago, tweeting that he was "walking into my heart."
Well, he has taken a walk since May 26. In his last 68 PAs, he's hitting .250/.250/.328. He's been Alcides Escobar, only he's hitting cleanup every night. Young impatient hitters after thousands of plate appearances tend to age into impatient hitters.
Great leadership though.
Once he passed Kila in total walks, which he did back on the 26th, he knew his job was done. He walked more than the Hawaiian dude everyone hated, so there!

Sometimes I think I should commit to the Royals as an AL team
Just so I could read Will McDonald every day.
Thanks to a torrid 5-5 stretch, the Royals are now just 7 games behind division leading Detroit.
I’d laugh harder if I didn’t know the feeling all too well

He always has them on his side.
White, physically gifted, and a constant smile > actual baseball ability
I have one of those. How far will that get me?

Bay, and it's really not even close.
We don’t know whats going on with Bay, but we know that if somehow he gets it figured out, he’ll be a great hitter again. Frenchy is, was, and always will be a mediocre power hitter with absolutely no plate discipline.

I'd take Frenchy at this point.
Only because he’s cheap enough to outright release from his contract (or non-tender at the end of the year if he’s still arb eligible).

Bay because he actually takes a walk
"Fantasy, reality, science Fiction. Which is which? Who can tell?"
Funny thing is
he walked twice and stole 2 bases Tuesday night. He’s got 1.3 war in the bank already and really, they need someone to play rf until Will Myers is ready. They could of course play Mitch Maier there.
Sure, i know, Frenchy will likely put up 0 war or just above that rest of way.
Funny thing is Melky Cabrera isn’t walking either but is also having a good year. 1.9 WAR in less than half a season.
The Royals position players have actually been above average, despite a bit of a black hole from the hitting at ss and c. Their pitching, particularly their starters, have been pretty bad.
