Cory Vaughn and Greg Peavey Promoted to Hi-A
Via the Gnats Press Release: Both Vaughn and Peavey were South Atlantic League All-Stars. Vaughn was 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in the Southern Division's 6-3 win in the South Atlantic League All-Star Game on June 21 in Salisbury, MD. Peavey pitched a scoreless sixth inning with one hit. Overall with the Gnats, Vaughn was hitting .286/.405/.408 with 14 doubles, two triples and four home runs in 68 games for Savannah. At the time of his promotion, Vaughn, the Mets' fourth-round pick in the 2010 draft, was eighth in the SAL in on-base percentage (.405), and was leading the Gnats in batting average (.286). Peavey (6-2, 3.12) was sixth in the SAL with his 3.12 ERA, seventh in innings pitched (78) and ninth in strikeouts (69). Peavey, the Mets' sixth round pick in the 2010 draft, had the second-lowest walk rate among SAL starting pitchers (1.27 BB-IBB/9 IP).
