AAA - Buffalo Bisons (41-57)_______________________________________
SYRACUSE 7, BUFFALO 6 (Box)
SYRACUSE 9, BUFFALO 5 (Box)
I feel bad for ny Bisons fans in attendance for both halves of the double-header yesterday, as the Herd got off on the wrong foot right from the get go. Miguel Batista let the Chiefs bat around in the 1st inning of the 1st game, a good indicator of what was to come. While the Bisons did rally to tie that one, they'd lose on a walk off hit in the 8th. Gustavo Chacin actually managed to pitch worse than Batista, allowing the Chiefs to take a huge lead they'd never relinquish. The Herd will try to avoid being swept today with Pat Misch on the hill.
- CF Fernando Perez: 2-5, 2B, RBI, R
- 3B Zach Lutz: DNP, No word on how long being hit in the head by a Wang fastball will have him out
- 2B Michael Fisher: 1-5, 2B, 2 BB, R
- RHP Miguel Batista: 3.2 IP, 5 H, 6 R (5 ER), 4 K, 2 BB
- RHP Gustavo Chacin: 3 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 1 K, 3 BB, 1 HR
AA - Binghamton Mets (39-59)_____________________________________
PORTLAND 10, BINGHAMTON 9 (Box)
The B-Mets managed 4 homers on the day, but it wasn't enough to overcome a solid offensive showing from Portland. Reese Havens returned to action with a solid offensive showing, but Matt Den Dekker's 2 homers stole the headlines in this one. Portland snapped the Mets series win streak at 2, the Mets will look to rebound as they travel to Reading to scout the Phillies minor league system.
- 2B Reese Havens: 3-5, 2B, R (He can still hit)
- IF Josh Satin: 1-4, R, K
- 3B Eric Campbell: 1-5, 2 RBI, K
- CF Matt Den Dekker: 2-5, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2 K
- 1B Allan Dykstra: 1-5, HR, RBI, R, K
- LHP Robert Carson: 3.1 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 1 K, 4 BB, HR
Hi-A St. Lucie Mets (16-9)________________________________________
ST. LUCIE 5, CLEARWATER 2 (Box)
David Wright was 2-2 with 2 walks in this one, he really looks like he should be back in Queens asap. I'd really like to see the gang all back together for at least one more game before Carlos Beltran is selfishly traded away. Cory Vaughn is starting to show his power again, and still continues to get on base at a very good clip. He and Den Dekker are giving me a very good feeling about the future of the Mets outfield. Scott Moviel tossed a solid if unspectacular game to help the Mets remain atop the division.
- LF Juan Lagares: 1-4, 2B, K, RBI, R
- RF Cory Vaughn: 1-3, HR, BB, RBI, R
- 3B Jefry Marte: 2-4, 2B, RBI
- SS Wilmer Flores: 1-4, R
- RF Cesar Puello: 1-4, K
- 2B Robbie Shields: 0-4, K
- RHP Scott Moviel: 6.2 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 3 K, BB
Lo-A Savannah Sand Gnats (15-11)__________________________________
WEST VIRGINIA 4, SAVANNNAH 3 (Box)
The Gnats didn't do much for the first 7 innings of this one, and entered the 8th trailing 3-0. The first five batters of the 8th managed to reach base safely though, and the Gnats were a bit unlucky to only score three runs in the frame. West Virginia would go on to win the game in the 12th with yet another Jerryball 101 walkoff. The top 4 hitters in the Gnats lineup went hitless on the night.
- CF Darrell Ceciliani: 0-5, RBI, K
- 3B Aderlin Rodriguez: 1-5, 2B, K, R
- 2B Wilfredo Tovar: 0-5, 2 K
- C Blake Forsythe: 0-5, 4 K
- C Albert Cordero: 1-5, R
- RHP Gonzalez Germen: 5 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 4 K
Short Season A- Brooklyn Cyclones (17-15)_______________________________________
ABERDEEN 7, BROOKLYN 6 (Box)
Brooklyn managed to get down 5-0 early, but managed to rally and force extra innings in this one. A walk and a pair of singles by Aberdeen in the tenth was enough to do in the Cyclones, dropping them 7.5 games behind Staten Island in the standings.
- SS Danny Muno: 0-5, 2 K
- RF Javier Rodriguez: 1-4, BB, K
- 3B Brian Harrison: 2-5, 2 R
- CF Travis Taijeron: 1-5, 2B, RBI, 2 K
- C Nelfi Zapata: 0-1
- OF Chase Greene: 0-5
- LHP Carlos Vazquez: 2.1 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, K, BB
- C Camden Maron: 1-4
- CF Tillman Pugh: 0-4, 2 K
- LF Julio Concepcion: 2-4, 2B, K, RBI, R
- OF Gregory Pron: 2-4, K, 2 R
- C Jeffrey Glenn: 1-3, BB, RBI
- C Jeyckol De Leon: 0-3, BB, K
- RF Gilbert Gomez: 1-4
- SS Randoll Santana: 1-3
- OF Ariel Mercedes: 1-4, 2 K
★ Star of the Night ★
I'm going to go with Matt Den Dekker tonight, as he hit 2 homers in the Bingo loss. He's been on fire for the last dozen games, putting his slow start well behind him. Hopefully he continues this recent pace for the remainder of the season.

Wright/Beltran/Reyes
how many games have the 3 played together in the last 3 seasons. weird how few it has been
Any task BIG or small, Do it well or not at all
For those following the missing room mate story from 2 nights ago
He’s now been gone for 6 days.
This morning I discovered his milk had opened up inside the fridge. It expired 1 month and 1 day ago, meaning that it was over 3 weeks past expired when he disappeared. This was appreciated affirmation of my decision to assume the toolbag is fine instead of calling the fuzz.
Its nice to Den Dekker start to hit in AA
It would seem he’s adjusting to the higher level a bit now. Also, the power is nice addition as well.
The power is nice, but the Ks are a bit alarming at this point.
It’s one thing if you’re a three true outcome type, but MDD doesn’t really walk that much and he’s more of a doubles guy.
Blake Forsythe gets lucky...
0 for 5 with four wiffs and he doesn’t get the horns. He’d better be glad Sandy and Company went shopping in the bargin bin (though it appears they only got junk). Forsythe continues to disappoint.
Huh?
Forsythe was a Minaya draft pick.
Chamption of the R.A. Dickey Face contest and "Cromulent Photoshopper Extraordinaire" of Amazin' Avenue!
You might know me as mistermet.

I think you misunderstood...
or I poorly stated. What I meant was that Forsythe was lucky that Sandy & Co. just signed Chacin and Batista or he’d likely have been a lock for the horns with the performance. I didn’t mean to imply that Sandy picked Forsythe.
