You won't see him in the box scores yet, but supplemental pick Michael Fulmer officially signed with the Mets yesterday for above slot. I'd guess we'll see his name in some of the lower minors box scores soon.
AAA - Buffalo Bisons (42-60)_______________________________________
PAWTUCKET 7, BUFFALO 6 (Box)
Josh Satin hit his first AAA HR in the 8th inning to break a 4-4 deadlock, but the Herd promptly gave up 3 runs in the 9th to see them lose yet again. Dale Thayer came into the came and gave up a walk, double, and homer to watch his potential save turn into a loss.
- 3B Josh Satin: 1-5, HR, K, 2 RBI, R
- SS Ruben Tejada: 2-3, 2B, BB, R
- RHP Dylan Owen: 6.2 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 4 K, 4 BB, 2 HR
AA - Binghamton Mets (41-61)_____________________________________
BINGHAMTON 10, READING 1 (Box)
Binghamton had a great game tonight both at the plate and on the mound. Brandon Moore had an excellent outing that will probably be lost in the tremendous game Juan Lagares had. He displayed all 5 tools last night, how he fares at AA will sure be fun to watch as the season winds down. If nothing else, I think a hot finish to the season will keep him in the back of Sandy Alderson's mind over the winter.
- 2B Reese Havens: 1-5, 2 K, RBI, R
- 3B Eric Campbell: 2-5, 2B, K, RBI, R
- 1B Allan Dykstra: 0-2, 3 BB, 2 K, 2 R
- SS Jordany Valdespin: 1-5, HR, K, R
- RF Juan Lagares: 5-5, 2 2B, 3B, BB, RBI, 3 R, SB
- RHP Brandon Moore: 6 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 6 K, 0 BB
Hi-A St. Lucie Mets (17-12)________________________________________
Game One: BREVARD COUNTY 3, ST. LUCIE 2 (Box)
LHP Darin Gorski pitched moderately well and actually qualified for a complete game in the shortened seven inning affair but he still picked up his first loss of 2011 in the opener of a double header on Sunday. Aside from a CF Cesar Puello solo homer in the fifth, the Mets offense never really got much going in this one. However, the increase in Puello's in-game power this season -- coupled with his move to center -- is one of the better developments in the Mets entire farm system in 2011. In July alone he has four bombs to go along with a .523 SLG.
- SS Wilmer Flores: 1-3, 2B
- RF Cory Vaughn: 0-3
- 3B Jefry Marte: 0-3, 2 K
- RF Cesar Puello: 1-3, HR(8)
- 2B Robbie Shields: 0-2, BB
- LHP Darin Gorski: L, 7 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 4 K, 1 HR, 1 Pickoff; Has allowed at least one HR in three straight starts
Game Two: BREVARD COUNTY 7, ST. LUCIE 6 (Box)
RHP Kyle Allen's poor outing put the Mets in a big hole early on in this one. They'd climb almost all the way back with help from a solid bullpen, but in the end they came up a little short. CF Cesar Puello had another nice game at the plate, but he struggled in center field last evening. Two errors an a third misplay that could have also been an error really helped Allen get into trouble.
- SS Wilmer Flores: DNP
- RF Cory Vaughn: 0-4, K
- 3B Jefry Marte: 0-4, 2 K
- RF Cesar Puello: 2-3, 3B, K, RBI, R
- 2B Robbie Shields: 1-3, HR, 2 RBI, R
- RHP Kyle Allen: 2.1 IP, 9 H, 7 R (5 ER), 0 K, BB
Lo-A Savannah Sand Gnats (19-11)__________________________________
SAVANNNAH 4, LEXINGTON 2 (Box)
Michael Hebert made his first start for Savannah and it was a beauty. He put up a line that would earn him star of the night most evenings. Darrell Ceciliani showed off a little of his Brooklyn form last night to lead the offense as Savannah continues to dominate the SAL.
- CF Darrell Ceciliani: 3-4, 2B, K, 2 R
- 3B Aderlin Rodriguez: 1-4, 2 K
- 2B Wilfredo Tovar: 0-4, RBI
- C Blake Forsythe: 0-4, K
- C Albert Cordero: 3-4
- RHP Michael Hebert: 6 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 9 K, 0 BB
Short Season A- Brooklyn Cyclones (20-16)_______________________________________
STATE COLLEGE 5, BROOKLYN 1 (Box)
Javier Rodriguez and Travis Taijeron had solid showings for the Cyclones, but that was about it for the highlights in this one. The loss kept them 7 games back of the streaking Staten Island Yankees.
- SS Danny Muno: 1-5, 2B, K
- RF Javier Rodriguez: 3-4
- 3B Brian Harrison: 0-4
- CF Travis Taijeron: 2-3, HR, BB, RBI, R
- C Nelfi Zapata: 0-3, BB
- OF Chase Greene: 0-4
- RHP Eduardo Aldama: 5 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 3 K, 2 BB, HR
- C Camden Maron: 1-4, RBI
- CF Tillman Pugh: 0-3, 2 K, BB
- LF Julio Concepcion: 0-4, R
- C Jeffrey Glenn: 1-3, HR, BB, K, 2 RBI, R
- RHP Akeel Morris: 6 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 4 K, 3 BB
- CF Eudy Pina: 0-4, 2 K
- RF Gilbert Gomez: 1-4, 2B, 2 K, RBI, R
- 1B Ryan Hutson: 0-3, K, BB
- OF Ariel Mercedes: 0-4, 2 K
- LHP Alberto Baldonado: 3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 4 K, 3 BB

yeah
just added it. note puello’s homer, his eighth, as his developing power is becoming a very significant storyline.

I hope that Puello improves his plate discipline
He’s just not walking, and his K rate is too high.

his SB rate is also disappointing for someone with his speed
he needs to pick up some skills sooner or later, but he is still very young

So, where things stand today . .
Is Lagares our best non-pitching prospect? He may have passed Wilmer and the Captain.
Is Valdespin our future 2b, or does Havens have the inside track? Starting to really think Jordany is the future, even without the BB rate.
Valdespin is certainly putting up the numbers this year
though I wouldn’t count Havens out just yet. Jordany is on the 40 man roster already, so that might give him a bit of an edge at this point. I’m not sure when Havens will have to be added, but if it’s after this season, then that point might be moot.

Yeah
We have to be careful valuing guys like lagares and Valdespin whose games lack secondary skills and thus are far more susceptible to regression once they move up.
Lagares .335 AVG looks great but remember, lastings milledge once batted .337 for Binghamton with very little plate discipline to speak of and we know where that went.
