I know this a looooong shot, but I can't help thinking Jason Bay could benefit from a voluntary AAA stint, a la Steve Trachsel. We all know how that turned out for Trachsel, and Bay is having a similarly atrocious year.

I don't dislike Bay and don't want to see him humiliated, but outside of that week-and-a-half hot streak he has looked like absolute garbage at the plate; constantly flailing at fastballs and breaking balls off the outside black. The Mets need to get some kind of return on their significant investment. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I know the Mets will not be in contention, most likely, come September but the Bay situation is getting pretty dire.
