AAA - Buffalo Bisons (37-50)_______________________________________
BUFFALO 11, SYRACUSE 6 (Box)
Dylan Owen was very good fro the Herd tonight, limiting the Chiefs to a single hit in his six innings of work. Val Pascucci, Luis Figueroa, and Raul Chavez all registered three hit nights for Buffalo, while Luis Hernandez drove in five to lead the way for the suddenly explosive offense.
- 1B Nick Evans: 2-6, K, R (.323/.373/.477)
- 3B Zach Lutz: 0-3, 2 BB, K, 2 R (.313/.411/.521)
- 2B Michael Fisher: 0-1, R (.266/.335/.372)
- RHP Dylan Owen: 6 IP, 1 H, 2 ER, 5 K, 2 BB, HR (59.1 IP, 58 H, 4.25 ERA, 52 K, 20 BB)
AA - Binghamton Mets (30-54)_____________________________________
PORTLAND 6, BINGHAMTON 3 (Box)
PORTLAND 15, BINGHAMTON 5 (Box)
This was about what you'd expect from Binghamton this year...play two, lose two. There were some really nice nights by a few B-Mets offensive players this evening, but the pitching just wasn't very good for them. Matt Den Dekker probably had his best game since being promoted from St. Lucie, and Allan Dykstra continues to not be Eddie Kunz.
- IF Josh Satin: 4-6, HR, 2 2B, RBI, 2 R, BB, K (.319/.413/.430)
- CF Matt Den Dekker: 3-5, 3B, 2 2B, 2 RBI,3 BB, 2 K (.213/.314/.328)
- 1B Allan Dykstra: 2-5, HR, 2 RBI, R, 2 BB, 2 K (.273/.402/.479)
- SS Jordany Valdespin: 2-8, HR, 2 RBI, R, K, CS (.300/.344/.473)
- RHP Colin McHugh: 5 IP, 3 H, 4 ER (5 R), 6 K, 3 BB
Hi-A St. Lucie Mets (7-4)________________________________________
ST. LUCIE 9, FORT MYERS 2 (Box)
Armando Rodriguez had a solid outing, and the Mets exploded for five in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach for the Miracle. Juan Lagares played center in this one, and led the way with a bases loaded triple in the seventh that all but sealed it. If only he'd get his walk rate up a little, he'd finally be looking like a really good prospect.
- CF Juan Lagares: 2-3, 3B, 2 BB, 3 RBI, 2 R (.348/.396/.484)
- RF Cory Vaughn: 1-5, R (.333/.444/.600)
- 3B Jefry Marte: 2-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI (.79/.343/.398)
- SS Wilmer Flores: 2-5, RBI, R (.278/.322/.377)
- C Francisco Pena: 0-4 (.202/.259/.306)
- RHP Armando Rodriguez: 5.1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 4 K, 2 BB (33 IP, 2.45 ERA, 37 K, 14 BB)
Lo-A Savannah Sand Gnats (12-1)__________________________________
SAVANNNAH 1, ROME 0 (Box)
Savannah used an excellent outing by both Ryan Fraser and the bullpen to seal it's eleventh straight win. After winning the first half crown and clinching a playoff berth, Savannah doesn't seem to be showing too many signs of slowing down. The win brings them to twenty games over .500 for the entire year.
- CF Darrell Ceciliani: 1-4 (.244/.340/.353)
- 3B Aderlin Rodriguez: 0-3, BB, K (.223/.272/.368)
- 2B Wilfredo Tovar: 0-3, BB (.234/.295/.289)
- C Albert Cordero: 1-4, R (.230/.283/.296)
- RHP Ryan Fraser: 7 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 7 K, 4 BB (90 IP. 3.30 ERA, 56 K, 37 BB)
Short Season A- Brooklyn Cyclones (11-8)_______________________________________
STATEN ISLAND 6, BROOKLYN 5 (Box)
We went to extras again in this one, with Staten Island needing eleven to get by Brooklyn. A Jeremy Gould wild pitch allowed the winning run to finally cross the plate for the Yankees, dropping the Cyclones to 4.5 games out of first again.
- RF Javier Rodriguez: 2-6, HR, RBI, R
- 3B Brian Harrison: 1-2, 2B, 2 BB, 2 R
- SS Ismael Tijerina: 1-5, BB, K, R
- C Nelfi Zapata: 1-2, RBI

Josh Satin for Hero of the Night
Finestkind. Accept no substitutes.
about him, he is actually slugging .530 not .430
he is on pace for 40 2Bs and 20 HRs, nice! Probably also about 140 k’s (eek) but the 80-90 walks he should take are a plus
I LIKE IKE!
that guy really needs to be in AAA or get traded to another team

So does Harvey pitch tonight?
Or did he get hurt and I did not realize it?
Now, kids, being eaten by a crocodile is just like going to sleep; in giant blender.
He's scheduled for tonight

Thanks.

Josh Edgin
2 more scoreless innings in relief. Does the 24 year old reliever get another promotion soon? He’s been lights out all year.

They bleed!

Silver lining?
4:2 K/BB, HBP, 0 HR
That can’t be all the defense fault, but how many of those were hit hard and how many were bobbled by the fielders?
In lobby for: Jaime Cevallos, Zack Lutz, orange unis and Rickroll as the 7th inning song.

He's also invented the zero base hit
Which allows him to slug half of his batting average.
Any idea when Captain Kirk might return?
He’s been out around a month already. Hopefully he’ll be back before the season ends.

came here for that very reason, sadly
Buffalo center fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis (.298, 6 HR, 14 RBI), already out a month with a strain of his left, non-throwing shoulder, is not making progress and may be forced to decide soon between rehab and surgery. Nieuwenhuis struggles to lift his shoulder during everyday activities and is unable to swing a bat.
also, this
Left-hander Steve Matz, the organization’s top pick (second round) two years ago, is home on Long Island. Matz, who had Tommy John surgery in May 2010, has halted throwing for the time being. He is expected to return to the Mets’ Port St. Lucie, Fla., complex in a week to 10 days. After being examined by Mets doctor David Altchek following elbow discomfort, Matz sought a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews. Wogan suggested neither doctor has any concern. Instead, the farm director said, the throwing interruption is a reminder that despite some pitchers returning as quickly as 11 months after Tommy John surgery, the length of recovery can be as long as 18 months, and that Matz fits into the category of a longer recovery time.

Ugh.
The organization’s injury issues are trickling down to the minors now. Mejia, Nieuwenhuis, Matz, etc etc.
This sucks.

Oh my Den Dekker?
Someone put on the right pair of clogs last night. Clicking the “continue” link to look at MDD was sort of like opening the thin envelope from a top college. You sort of knew you were not getting good news. . . . not that people on this site would EVER have been rejected by any institution of higher learning. . . . .
Well, Stanford, but I was accepted by Jefferson Community College.
Funny and possibly apocryphal story: Willie Randolph was accepted at JCC the same year I was, then he wrote asking what sort of financial package they were offering. The response? “We’re an open-admission community college; we don’t give out athletic scholarships.” Sadly, Willie decided to try his luck elsewhere….
OT
Jeyckol de Leon’s forehead-on-the-keyboard name reminds me of awesome chainsaw-wielding southern hair metal band “Jackyl.”

Also, remember when people were really excited about Ceciliani? Is it just a tough league for hitters?
Allen Dykstra
is seriously on fire. .393/.528/1.313 over his last 10. Has he made some kind of adjustment or is it just selection bias?
