AAA - Buffalo Bisons (46-63)_______________________________________
BUFFALO 7, LEHIGH VALLEY 1 (Box)
Pat Misch was his typical quietly efficient self, cruising along without making much noise but continually getting AAA batters out. He also helped his own cause today with a key double in the 5 run 5th. Nice to see Fernando having a solid game...the rest of this season may be the best opportunity he's ever going to get to force his way into the Mets thinking.
- RF Fernando Martinez: 2-4, R
- 1B Nick Evans: 0-4, K
- 3B Josh Satin: 1-5, 2B
- SS Ruben Tejada: 1-3, K, 2 R
- LHP Pat Misch: 7 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 5 K, 2 BB
AA - Binghamton Mets (44-65)_____________________________________
BINGHAMTON 5, HARRISBURG 2 (Box)
Like the Buffalo game, Binghamton won yesterday behind a solid pitching performance from Colin McHugh and Jack Egbert. Juan Lagares had another exceptional game for the B-Mets, he's now OPS'ing 1.004 since his promotion to Bingo.
- LF Juan Lagares: 3-4, RBI
- 3B Eric Campbell: 0-2, 2 BB
- CF Matt Den Dekker: 0-4, BB, 3 K, R
- 1B Allan Dykstra: 0-4, 2 K
- SS Jordany Valdespin: 1-4, 3B, 2 K, 2 RBI, R
- C Kai Gronauer: 1-2
- RHP Colin McHugh: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 5 K, 2 BB
Hi-A St. Lucie Mets (19-17)________________________________________
DUNEDAIN 8, ST. LUCIE 1 (Box)
Scott Moviel wasn't very hitable, but he limited the damage by not walking anyone. The offense didn't ever get going in this one, though, as you can see by the number of 0-4's. Wilmer Flores at least had a solid game, and has quietly been very hot over his last ten games (.923 OPS).
- RF Cory Vaughn: 0-4, 3 K
- 3B Jefry Marte: 0-4, K
- SS Wilmer Flores: 2-3, 2B, BB, RBI
- RF Cesar Puello: 0-4, K
- C Francisco Pena: 1-3, 2B, BB, K, R
- RHP Scott Moviel: 5 IP, 9 H, 3 ER, 5 K, 0 BB
Lo-A Savannah Sand Gnats (23-13)__________________________________
SAVANNNAH 13, GREENSBORO 1 (Box)
Lots of offense and good pitching usually adds up to a win.Gonzalez German was good, and the run support was definitely there for him yesterday. 22 year old left fielder Alonso Harris led the way for the Gnats, going 5-5 on the night. Aderlin Rodriguez and Blake Forsythe also had excellent games at the plate. Savannah is looking a lock to capture the second half Sally crown as well as the first.
- CF Darrell Ceciliani: 1-4, 2 BB, 2 RBI, 2 R
- 3B Aderlin Rodriguez: 3-4, HR, BB, 4 RBI, 2 R
- 2B Wilfredo Tovar: 0-2, 2 BB, RBI, R
- C Blake Forsythe: 2-4, 2B, 2 BB, K, RBI, R
- C Albert Cordero: 2-5, R
- RHP Gonzalez Germen: 5 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 7 K, 2 BB
Short Season A- Brooklyn Cyclones (24-19)_______________________________________
BROOKLYN 4, VERMONT 1 (Box)
VERMONT 5, BROOKLYN 4 (Box)
Double dipping in Burlington yesterday, as the teams made up a July 8th rainout. Brooklyn started the first game well, scoring 3 runs in a 3 error first of their "home" game. Good pitching took over that one for both teams as the Clones cruised to the win. The second half of the split bill was a back and forth affair with Vermont scoring the winning run on a two run double in the fifth. I was at the games, so I'll try to get some pictures up after I get back from work. Just as a side note, Danny Muno has a very impressive approach at the plate. He's worked the pitchers hard in the first three games this series, I'm excited to see him again this evening.
- SS Danny Muno: 0-4, 4 BB, RBI, R
- RF Javier Rodriguez: 0-2, RBI
- 3B Brian Harrison: 2-6, K, RBI, R
- CF Travis Taijeron: 3-5, HR, 2B, K, RBI, 2 R
- C Nelfi Zapata: 1-3, K, 2 RBI, R
- OF Chase Greene: 2-2, 3B, R
- LHP Carlos Vazquez: 4.2 IP, 5 H, 2 R (0 ER), 3 K, 2 BB
- RHP Tyson Seng: 3 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 6 K, 0 BB
- C Camden Maron: 2-2, BB, RBI
- LF Julio Concepcion: 2-3, BB, K
- OF Gregory Pron: 1-3, BB, K, RBI, R
- C Jeffrey Glenn: 0-4, 3 K

Geez
Den Dekker just can’t seem to cut back on those K’s, huh? Well, hopefully he uses the rest of this season to work on it. I’m really high on this guy as the future CF.
Also, who do you see as locks (as far as you can tell, anyway) to be called up in September? I know there are a few interesting names that need to be put on the 40-man or risk being lost in the Rule V this winter.
Rough guesses
This depends on if we are playing ‘meaningful games’ or not. But I would guess Schwinden probably gets some innings. You’ll see some bullpen guys brought up for depth (Hampson, Thayer, maybe Lujan). For position guys, maybe Satin and Pascucci.

How about the Rule 5, thing?
Here are some names that could be exposed to the Rule 5 this year:
Robert Carson
Mark Cohoon
Rhiner Cruz
Jeurys Familia
Wilmer Flores
Alonzo Harris
Reese Havens
Bradley Holt
Juan Lagares
Jefry Marte
Collin McHugh
Kirk Nieuwenhuis
Cesar Puello
Sean Ratliff
Joshua Satin
Chris Schwinden
Wilfredo Tovar
Unless I am mistaken about it, which may be the case, some interesting roster moves will need to be made after this season. Thoughts?
smh @ Alonzo Harris
Whoops. One of these things is not like the others, lol.
I haven't looked at it in depth yet
But some of those guys aren’t eligible, I think. If you were signed at under 19, you are protected for five years, not four.
I could see the Mets losing Satin, I think everyone else will be on the 40 man or not able to stick on a major league roster for the whole year. I guess if you are a second division team, you could stick McHugh or Holt in the pen and take a shot, though Holt may end up on the 40 man, as they will probably have a half dozen or so pitching slots to play with.

I'd rather see the Mets try and get Holt into their ML bullpen than leave him exposed to the Rule 5
Its not exactly like we have an overwhelmingly large number of RP’s that are any good. I also have to imagine that Izzy is going to retire after this year or probably won’t be retained at the very least.
If Izzy isn't retiring, the Mets should hold onto him
We need the bullpen depth, something that Brad Holt probably can’t provide in 2012.

So we have, what, 11 or 12 guys to protect?
Damn, we’re losing a couple of them, aren’t we?

Do Lagares's stats imply that he's due to regress?
Or is this legit?
I think so
Their current starter is listed as TBD though.
