Nice!
Got Marquez, got Evans, now we need Robbins
That was considered a tough sign
It’s equivalent to sandwich-round/2nd round money
In lobby for: Jaime Cevallos, Zack Lutz, orange unis and Rickroll as the 7th inning song.

Here are a couple non-paywall scouting reports:
they say such different things about him
guess that is how scouting reports will be
I LIKE IKE!
Great signing
I know Mike Diaz and some other sources don’t think he sticks at SS, but I think he has a decent shot at sticking there, and the bat is for real. I’d say he immediately becomes a top 10 guy in the system

You do love your catcher conversions
Arm’s probably not good enough, it’s fringy at short.

what?
Just read one of the reports posted above – said his arm is a rocket but his footwork is poor. Footwork is important for catching
I LIKE IKE!
Yeah
I’ve seen reports that say good footwork and bad arm, depends on which day you see him, I guess, hence the positional uncertainty.

I think it was Diaz
That didn’t love his arm

Definitely
Outside of the arms, Nimmo, Kirk and Fulmer, I don’t know who I would for sure rate above him as a prospect in the org. Maybe Valdespin.

Lagares and Flores, definitely Jordanny, maybe Lutz or Cordero?
Where does Satin rank in all this, he is not of prospect age? But hitting .300/.400/.500 across AA and AAA will definitely play in the majors
I LIKE IKE!
Well
A lot of people will probably rate Puello and Flores higher, which is fine, though Evans bat is already pretty polished and he has tools to spare as well. Lagares need to show some secondary skills or the ability to play CF for me to rate him particularly high. I am higher on Lutz than just about anyone other than Rob, but he’s lost a lot of development time and isn’t young. And I am higher on Satin than anyone, including Rob,but he is 26 and doesn’t have close to Evans’ ceiling. Actual SS prospects are very, very rare. I mean, the Mets have such an odd mix of older polished guys and younger tools/upside guys, that depending on what you like to emphasize, after the four arms, ratings tend to diverge.

I am pretty high on Jordany, Lutz and Satin myself
always forget about Puello – like him but not as much as some others.
I think Lagares has the speed for CF, but is blocked by den Dekker and Kirk for now. Plus, he has impressed me this year, even if it is BABIP driven. It is hypocritical of me to like him this much after being pretty low on Ceciliani, who had the same deal last year, but something about Lagares surviving the Omar rush job has me feeling good about him. Or maybe it is the better competition he is facing while doing it. Maybe it is something I saw when I watch them play. Dunno, but I am pretty high on him.
I just find it hard to bump people up in the rankings based solely on what they did as an amateur

I'm going to call out everyone who joined late on the Lutz bandwagon.
Probably just Sokojoe can claim to be there from the start.

certainly
was hard to be on it before last season
I LIKE IKE!
I've always known Lutz' value
In addition, we’d have to send some prospects, nobody too high up, Blake is a 36 year old after all, so I’d guess/hope Duda or Lutz and Moviel or Beaulac would be enough (Maybe some combination of three of those? I don’t want to give up Nieuwenhuis or Tejada or anyone like that.). I bad with trades, so I’m not really sure.
I honestly liked Lutz a lot back when I wrote that
But he was a long ways away and so much can go wrong as we know.
You just traded our 3B of the future for a 36yo Blake. Fire SM Evan_S!

I also signed Matt Holliday instead of Jason Bay
That was about the only thing that would have ended well there.

yes, I think all if not most of us

More like desperate for catcher conversions
And I’ll be that way until we get some quality catching depth in the system.

I still think we should have grabbed one of the prep catchers
during the run of college arms, but I can’t complain about this draft too strenuously at all.

Love it!
Conversion to catcher? yay or nay?
Nay
Unless it’s obvious that his skillset suits him better at C than SS/2B, it’s probably smarter not to mess with him. There are scouts thinking he could be above-average defensively at 2B, and it’s not like our org is super strong at middle-infield.
I think we should convert Fernando to catcher

This is awesome
For 1/4th of what Omar paid Alex Cora last year we get a great prospect. It’s just laughable that the Mets so rarely went overslot before this year when there is little financial risk and a lot to potentially gain. I’m glad we finally have people in charge who know what they’re doing.

SS
I hope he sticks there, because it seems like we’ve been getting a lot of SS prospects that need to move to another position at some point in time. Havens has already moved to 2B, Flores will have to move eventually so the word goes. Valdespin is playing SS, but is really a 2B converted to that position. The only legit SS we’ve had other than Reyes is, gulp, Ruben Tejada.
I hope this Evans kid can show he can stick at SS, and be nice piece on the big league team when it’s time to call him up.
Havens was drafting basically assuming he'd be moved to 2B right away
At least Evans has a shot at sticking there from what I’ve read.
I think that's just a testament to how difficult the position is.
Not many people can handle it, which is why true SS prospects are so valuable.
