AAA - Buffalo Bisons (57-72)_______________________________________
BUFFALO 6, COLUMBUS 4 (Box) With two Bison strikeouts to begin the second, C Mike Nickeas reached on a kicked ball before a double booted him to third. The run came home on 2B Jordany Valdespin's two-base smash, part of a three-RBI night for the erstwhile slumping middle infielder. The Herd had dropped behind in the fourth when Jordany notched his second ribbie, singling home SS Luis Hernandez -- again with two outs -- and later scoring on 1B Zach Lutz's grounder through the hole. It remained for Jordany to lift a sac fly and establish the two-run lead. Satin, Valdespin, and Lutz reached base nine times, and the bullpen finished out with four scoreless.
- 3B Josh Satin: 2-4, BB, K
- 2B Jordany Valdespin: 2-4, R, 2B, 4 RBI
- 1B Zach Lutz: 2-4, 2 RBI, BB, 2 K
- RHP Miguel Batista: 5.1 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 2 HR
AA - Binghamton Mets (56-72)_____________________________________
ERIE 0, BINGHAMTON 2 (Box) Through seven innings Harvey faced just four batters above the minimum, saluting his defense for turning three double-plays. Along the way he collected five strikeouts (four swinging), walked a pair, and scattered four hits for exactly no damage. In the fourth inning, Juan Lagares and Reese Havens poked a couple of singles and were joined on the bags by Michael Fisher, safe on an error. Bags loaded, two runs came home on a walk and a sac fly in foul ground. Though not the noblest of RsBI, the lead was nevertheless appreciated by Josh Stinson, who captured the two-inning save and shuttered up the shut-out.
- 2B Reese Havens: 1-3, R, 2 K, E(8)
- CF Matt Den Dekker: 0-4, 2 K
- RF Juan Lagares: 1-4, R, K
- RHP Matt Harvey: 7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
- RHP Josh Stinson: 2 IP, 1 K

NIGHT OFF
Lo-A Savannah Sand Gnats (35-21)__________________________________
SAVANNNAH 3, ROME 4 (Box) When in Rome, doo-doo. The game was kicked alive with back-to-back singles, and Ceciliani drew a bum throw on a stolen base to score. Tovar soon joined him at the plate when Cordero dinked a single. The team went 1-11 with RISP, and I suppose that was the one.
- CF Darrell Ceciliani: 1-4, R, BB, K, SB(22)
- 2B Wilfredo Tovar: 2-4, R, 2B, BB, SB(14)
- C Albert Cordero: 1-4, RBI, K, E(16)
- RHP Erik Goeddel: 5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
Short Season A- Brooklyn Cyclones (35-26)_______________________________________
GAME ONE: TRI-CITY 7, BROOKLYN 4 (Box) A continuation of the previous night's game, halted in the fourth for rain.

- RF Javier Rodriguez: 1-4, 2B, BB, K, SB(5)
- 3B Brian Harrison: 1-4, R
- 1B Cole Frenzel: 1-4, R
- LF Chase Greene: 2-4, RBI, K, SB(3)
- LHP Chris Hillard: 2 IP, 1 H, 1 K
GAME TWO: TRI-CITY 2, BROOKLYN 3 (Box): While you stabbed that Met game through your eyes, I lounged alone at MCU Park sipping Cabernet out of a travel mug, having all kinds of sensations. Like, being moved by the sincerity of American Idol finalist Pia Toscano, whose name was last night hung from the rafters. Like, enjoying how much Ismael Tijerina enjoys small children and puppies (it was also dog night.) Like, admiring the old mouthy season ticked holder who clapped Tillman Pugh's bottom as he charged out to center field.
It is late and my thoughts are numerous, but here are a few things that press on my memory.
- Javier Rodriguez is a strange character. After cursing loudly at himself for striking out in the first, he reached twice on two base hits and both times got caught off second in baserunning blunders. For his final act, he failed to run out an infield pop-up that landed -- fortunate for him -- one foot foul. But he didn't curse at himself.
- The light-hitting Ismael Tijerina is a joy to watch at short. He gives the impression of being tall, neat, and gallant, like a dancer, or a matador.
- In the fifth inning, DH Richard Lucas was punched out on an appealed check swing -- appealed, that is, to the lone field umpire standing at... second base. That was too much for Richard, who charged toward and past the mound like he meant to right then and there end his baseball career.
- The fellow twirling for the Valley Cats, a righty named Perez, possesses the tightest little circle of an arm motion I've ever seen. He's like the fast-pitching machine at the batting cages. Wait, spin, shoot.
- The field umpire was hounded all night by a guy in the stands who could only say, "WHO DO YOU WORK FOR?"
- The game, scheduled for seven innings, spilled into the eighth, and I have house guests. With two outs and nobody on base, hero catcher Amauris Valdez crashed a shot over the double-high wall in left. Valdez's line? .159/.182/.206. It was his first home run in three years.
- RF Javier Rodriguez: 2-4, K
- CF Tillman Pugh: 2-2, R, 2 BB
- 3B Brian Harrison: 0-3, BB
- SS Ismael Tijerina: 1-2, R, BB
- C Amauris Valdez: 2-4, R, HR, RBI
- RHP Marcos Camarena: 5 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
- C Camden Maron: 0-2, BB
- LF Julio Concepcion: 1-4, RBI, K
- RF Gregory Pron: 0-2
- RHP Jacob Lugo: 1.2 IP, 4 H, 7 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 0 K, 1 HR
- CF Brandon Nimmo: 0-4. 4 K
- 1B Ryan Hutson: 1-3, 2 R, 2B, BB, K
- SS Randoll Santana: 1-3
- RF Ariel Mercedes: 1-4, RBI
