Is that brief snippet on those new Fox postseason moments commercials really REALLY depressing anyone else?

Actually, it makes me harken back to the last moment I was truly happy while rooting for the Mets.
The depression kicked in three innings later. This remains, for me, a happy memory I can savor in perpetuity.

In the years since that happened
I’ve been able to view that one incredible play in a vacuum and concentrate less on the suck that was the Molina home run/the end of that game. Endy will forever have a spot on my team because of that catch and the throw that followed.

Its not Duaner’s fault he got into a taxi acceident, its Heilman’s fault for giving up that home run, and Willie Randolph’s fault for putting in your worst reliever in Game 7 of the NLCS. I honestly and truly feel that if any other Met was pitching that inning then the Mets would have gone on to win the World Series. Heilman blew so many saves in his Mets career and he always choked in the most important situations. I honestly feel like Heilman single handedly screwed us from winning that World Series and for that reason Heilman is probably my most hated Met in history.

Heilman was pretty good from 2005-2007
He also pitched well in his first two series appearances.

Heilman was pretty far from the worst reliever
He was awesome in 05 and good in ’06 and ’07. He was only left in to pitch the ninth because Wagner was absolutely horrendous that postseason.

Heilman was our best reliever (outside Wagner) in 2006

Chad Bradford was pretty damn good in 06.
I think he was probably their best reliever…the guy was ice with runners on base.

He was one of my favorites on that years team
He bailed Feliciano out tons of times that year.

Bradford has a 0.1 WAR edge over Heilman
Heilman threw like 25 more innings than Bradford, though, so that, to me, makes him more useful.

Maybe I am just remembering all of his worst moments
Is it just me or did he seem to blow the game at the worst possible moments? He always blew the important games, too. I think if it weren’t for him, the Mets would have also made the playoffs in 07 and 08

Observed failures stick in our memory more than observed successes.
Save Jenrry Mejia!
Keep Reyes, Trade Wilpon.

If it weren’t for:
*The entire bullpen crapping out
*Various injuries
*Various players being ineffective
You can’t really blame just him.

Result of the game notwithstanding
That play belongs among the annals of post season lore.

Yeah, that's my happy place
One of the 2-3 greatest unexpected moments of my life and biggest low-to-high swing I’ve ever experienced
I agree
My favorite part of that play might be the sign – “The strength to be there”. You couldn’t make that up if you tried.

The replays of Beltran's AB are depressing to me
Endy’s catch still makes me so happy though. Nothing in my time as a fan touches how I felt when he made that play.
The only thing close for me was Drury's goal at 7.7 seconds in the 06/07 Conference Semi's.

That was probably my favorite Mets moment from my lifetime
so the more I see it, the better. It reminds me of that time we were the best team in the world.

right
i completely agree. this moment was the pinnacle. and regardless of outcome it is clearly still remembered as an all-time great moment. but that’s what is so tragic about it to me.
even in defeat it went down in history, so imagine what kind of cache that play would have right now if we had won that game? and then the world series? it would be jeter vs. jeremy giambi, dave roberts’ stolen base, aaron boone’s shot. except better than all of those because in a vacuum it’s one of the single greatest catches i’ve ever seen. it would BE the commercial. i don’t feel it’s hyperbole to say that it might have gone down as the greatest single play in postseason history. and now it’s a footnote. that’s tragic to me.
and the fact that this commercial recognizes it but only in a 1.5 second cut surrounded by extended cuts of jeter’s play and roberts play sums that up perfectly. it’s too great to forget but it could and should have so much more meaning in terms of the history of the game.

I think it's heads and shoulders better than Willie Mays' catch
It takes a certain amount of skill to make an over-the-head basket catch like he made, but Endy robbed a two-run home run, and turned it into a double play.

this
it should have gone down in history.
I’ve never been more convinced of anything than I was that the Mets were gonna win the World Series after that catch. The fact that they didn’t pretty much proved that there’s no such thing as destiny – that life is just a cruel series of random moments, with no relation from one event to the other. Everything that’s happened from that moment on has killed my belief in a higher power.
Basically, what I’m trying to say is, Fuck Yadier Molina. And Fuck the Phillies.
