Fred "Im Broke" Wilpon’s Preliminary AAOP

Fred “Im Broke” Wilpon’s AAOP. Because the Einhorn deal fell through I thought I’d make a very basic AAOP trying to use the least amount of money and as many internal options as possible to field a semi-competitive team.

Again it is not very specific as I have not yet looked into specific trade scenarios and free agents. I am hoping that you all can offer some ideas and I can include them in my actual AAOP. The lists on the bottom include what I think the Major league team will look like and I also offered a list of all the players that I think can come up and help either the big league team or our higher affiliates(and eventually the big league team sometime in 2012). Based on my estimates, the payroll of the major league team should be near the 100mil level or a bit less.

Trade Options

If Kirk is doing well, flip Pagan for a SP/prospects

If Schwinden does well, flip Pelf for relief help/prospects

I really hope that Alderson takes advantage of the depth we have at some positions and turns them into something we can use. Let’s take a look at positions where we have depth. Once Havens is ready only one of Tejada, Valdespin, or Havens can play (im assuming we keep Reyes and not use any of them as a bench player which would be a waste) I see Havens as the long term solution at 2b so we can trade Tejada and Valdespin once Havens is ready. It also seems like Murphy and Satin are the same player so we can make a package of Murphy/Satin, Tejada/Valdespin, along with others, maybe Lutz(poor guy is blocked by Wrongz and Turner/Murphy, if not traded, can rest Wright on occasion) and Gee for a decent SP. If Alderson can trade Bay(eat most of his contract) for a #4-5 SP, it would be fantastic. Then we can move Kirk to RF and Duda to LF and have Pagan CF. And if F-Mart perfoms(I still have hope) then we can definitely trade Pagan and have an outfield of Duda, Kirk, F-Mart. Again this is just preliminary and very general and I hope to work on it more once the offseason hits.
